The first CPR training was held in 1960; while in the decade, the American Heart Association supported scientists proving that the combination of breaths with chest compressions could restart a heart.

In 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson proclaimed February, American Heart Month.

In 2023, almost 1 in 3 deaths in the US were caused by heart disease, it is the leading cause of death.
