Watson Signs & Monuments Creating Lasting Memorials out of Lasting Memories During his time there, he discovered a calling and wanted to serve families more personally.

Watson Monument Company has been creating impressive and impactful monuments in the Brazos Valley and surrounding areas for nearly a decade. With an emphasis on storytelling and leaving a legacy written in stone, we have had the honor of serving families, local organizations, universities, the State of Texas, and many other individuals with our work. Tony Watson, AICA, Memorial Artist and Owner, began his monument career as the lead designer for one of the largest producers of custom cemetery stones and vases in the United States. Seeing a need for someone who would slow down, design with intention, and guide families through decisions. In 2006, after much prayer and discussion with his wife, Tony decided to take steps to move towards the retail end of the industry. In 2012, Tony returned to Texas A&M University to finish his degree while running the business full-time and graduated class of 2017. Tony is an avid fan of all things Aggie Football and Baseball and enjoys spending time with his family at the games. As an Aggie owned and operated company, Watson Monuments has been trusted with some of the most visible and meaningful projects on the Texas A&M campus. Among these are Spirit Plaza, Forever Reveille at Kyle Field, and various pieces in Aggie Park. For Watson, these installations are not just professional projects, they carry personal significance. We have also been given the privilege to take part in several veterans’, collegiate, and other civic monuments locally and across Texas. Our goal is always to represent the university, organizations, and families with exceptional craftsmanship and create a legacy to be proud of. Tony has learned from the best and is distinguished among his peers in the monument industry. He values education and regularly teaches design and stone carving nationwide. The Watson team regularly attends continued education conventions and workshops to ensure excellence in experience and quality. Tony serves on the Board of Directors and as past president of the Southern Monument Builders Association. He is a member of the American Institute for Commemorative Art, a prestigious organization that values design and quality. Watson’s team has earned more than 40 design awards since 2013 through these associations. While families do not choose a memorial company based on accolades, these awards reflect the care, precision, and dedication poured into each project. Watson Monument believes that each family has a unique and important story to tell. We are dedicated to creating memorials that reflect individuals and their memory. Our purpose is to walk with each family through the memorial process, discussing the many possibilities, advising on cemetery restrictions, and ensuring the monument truly reflects the person being honored. Whether the work involves a tried-and-true design, unique complex details, or a significant large-scale project, the standard remains the same. Watson Monuments strives to provide high quality monuments with honesty, compassion, and craftsmanship that lasts. Check out our work here and at www.watsonmonumentco.com

Nearly 16 years ago, I signed a lease agreement for our office in Wellborn at 14821 FM 2154. That lease was negotiated to a 9 month lease to make sure that I would be able to maintain the lease agreement as a fairly small business. It was a gamble. We never renewed this lease, just migrated to a month to month lease for 15 years.

As our business grew and our community trusted us to care for their loved one’s memories, we began using the property more. We have met some AMAZING people and families through these doors. We have had some AMAZING projects come through this property like the Reveille Statue. But we have had some amazing memories as well here. Memories like watching the George Bush Presidential funeral train pass by. The years of seeing the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey train pass by. Watching my kids fall in love with carving.

However. After all these years, it is time for a change. What does that mean? As of today, we now own the property that helped us get this start. The property that holds these memories. The property that God has used to not just bless us, but also used us to bless the Brazos Valley. Today we became (as best we can tell) the fourth owner of this piece of land since the Republic of Texas.

This means we will continue to serve from here. We will begin to improve the property to better serve the families. And we still have some more amazing projects to come.

So as we approach Thanksgiving tomorrow, let me say I am incredibly thankful to the Hensarling family for how good they have been to us on the property for these past 16 years. I am also grateful to them for allowing us to take over the property as we move forward.

I am thankful for Amber Romitelli Realtor and her assistance along the way helping us to navigate a commercial purchase.

Be watching as over the next few years we begin to improve and develop this property to maintain the heritage of the Wellborn area.

Some of life’s greatest lessons are taught by a coach but, some are taught by a dad. The Price monument reflects their life together and being able to balance family and football well. The asymmetrical style and layered pieces tells their story all around the monument. 🏈

Texas A&M is known for many things, one of the most iconic being their rich history and deep-rooted traditions. During both World Wars, many students answered the call to serve their country. To honor the valor and courage of these students and veterans, the university’s class of 1991 donated the bronze statue. Victory Eagle, stands tall with a wingspan of 14 feet. The eagle had landed in Aggie Park where it stands proudly as a “perpetual symbol of the Aggie Spirit.”

South Central Region’s Phi chapter commemorated 100 years of since their charter with a Centennial Monument. The pièce de resistance is a pillar with a sculpted bronze ivy leaf to crown the monument. This piece stands in the middle of the plaza and is engraved with the sisterhood’s founding members. The secondary pillar stands behind the first and is engraved with donors for the project. Members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority will continue to gather and celebrate at this plaza for many more years to come.

A warm sea breeze and salt air blows over a set of cottages in a small sea-side community. The bay homes can be easily spotted by their distinct shade of pink and white brick pattern. This couple grew very fond of this cozy getaway, and they claimed the home on Seagun Avenue as their own, returning year after year. Their monument combines a bit of their colligate pride with a granite that closely resembles a maroon color and pattern along the side to emulate the brick style on the edges of the home. A photo depicts a painting made by a friend of the family to commemorate their special place in the style of an old “Greetings from” postcard.
