Self-awareness is the starting point of meaningful change.

Self-awareness isn’t about overanalyzing yourself.
It’s about learning to observe what’s happening within you — without judgment or avoidance.

Emotions aren’t good or bad. We just like some and don't like others. They provide information and feedback.

When you notice what you’re feeling, what triggers it, and how it influences your behavior, you gain something powerful:
choice.

Scripture reminds us:
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
— Proverbs 4:23

Self-awareness helps us guard the heart well.
It moves us from reacting on autopilot to responding with wisdom, responsibility, and intention. And it’s a skill that can be practiced!
So practice these strategies to see what you are able to notice about yourself and start making more intentional choices toward where you REALLY want to be going.

🧠 Prove It.

Your mind is full of thoughts every day.
Some are helpful.
Some are not.

But here’s the question:
What’s the evidence?

Not feelings.
Not assumptions.
Not opinions.
Actual evidence.

🔍 Test the thought. Prove it.
Just because a thought feels true doesn’t mean it is.
We have both the freedom and the responsibility to test our thoughts — and bring them into alignment with truth.

“We take every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 10:5

Ask:

What’s the evidence this thought is true?
What facts contradict it?
Am I seeing the full picture — or just the worst part?
Is this belief helping me move forward?
What does God’s Word (Truth) say about this?

We are not at the mercy of our thoughts.
We can challenge them, reshape them, and choose what we focus on.

Not every thought is true.
Not every belief is helpful.
And not every emotion reflects reality.

But when we slow down and examine the story we’re telling ourselves — that’s when change begins.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12:2

🧠 “Be Your Authentic Self” — But What Does That Actually Mean?

You’ve heard it:
“Be authentic.” “Speak your truth.”
It sounds empowering — but often leaves people confused and stuck.

🔹 Truth isn’t something we each get to define.
Our feelings are real, but they aren’t always right.
Authenticity isn’t about following every emotion — it’s about living in alignment with what’s actually true.

And truth isn’t just about facts.
It’s about identity — who you are, who you were made to be.

You don’t have to create your identity — you were given one.
You’re made in God’s image — known, loved, and called with purpose.
Your value isn’t something you earn — it’s something you already have.

Your authentic self includes the parts you like and the parts God is still refining.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12:2

Real authenticity takes awareness, humility, and grounding in God’s truth, not cultural trends or shifting emotions.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.”
– Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

-When Pain Hits Close to Home-

In times like these, words often fall short.

Tragedy shakes our sense of safety.
Grief shows up in unexpected ways — sadness, fear, anger, numbness.
And healing? It’s not a straight line. It’s slow, personal, and layered.

If you’re feeling heavy right now, here’s your reminder:

You don’t have to process this alone.
It’s okay to feel what you feel — even if it doesn’t make sense.
There’s no “right” way to grieve.
You can pause. You can breathe. You can talk.

📖 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18

Tragedy comes with challenging questions. Naturally.
If you lean on your faith, now is a time for comfort — not answers.

Pray, breathe, talk, and connect with others who are also feeling heavy. It is not a one-man experience, it is a community experience.

📖 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble." - 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4

“The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president. You realize that you control your own destiny.”
― Albert Ellis

We are the only one's responsible for what we do or do not do. The better we understand this, the better we can take control of where we go.

Don’t underestimate small steps.
You don’t have to overhaul your whole life to start feeling better.

-A 10-minute walk
-Turning off your phone for an hour
-Saying “no” when you need to
-Journaling one honest sentence
-Getting to bed 30 minutes earlier
-Saying a prayer of gratitude

These aren’t minor. They’re movements in a better direction.
Consistency beats intensity when it comes to emotional and spiritual wellness.

Feeling stuck? Start small.
Clarity and change often follow action — not the other way around.

🔹 Slow Down. Refocus. Keep Perspective.

Here’s a reminder:
👉 Take a breath.
👉 Slow your pace.
👉 Pay attention to what’s good around you — it’s still there.

Gratitude isn’t about ignoring the hard stuff.
It’s about resetting your focus and realigning your faith.

You don’t have to fix everything today.
Stop piling pressure on yourself to have it all figured out.
Take it one thing at a time. That’s enough.

And while you’re working on letting things go and forgiving others —
Don’t forget to forgive yourself, too.
You’re not expected to carry what grace already covered.

God’s already offered forgiveness freely.
Start living like that’s true — and let it shape how you show up, for others and yourself.

If you’re feeling stretched thin or stuck in your head, therapy can help you build tools and keep moving forward with purpose.

🧠 June is Men’s Mental Health Month.
As a counselor who works with men, I see it all the time:
Guys who carry the weight of responsibility, stress, and silence — because that’s what they were taught.
Push through. Tough it out. Keep it moving.
And sometimes, it works — until it doesn’t.
The truth is, therapy isn’t about weakness.
It’s about awareness.
It’s about understanding what’s actually going on — and figuring out what you want to do about it.
I offer a space where men can show up without having to explain everything.
Just real talk, real tools, and the freedom to take a breath and be honest.
If something’s been weighing on you, let’s talk.
A free consult might be the first move that changes everything.

We’re often told to “get over it,” “stay in control,” or “don’t let emotions get the best of you.”

But here’s the truth:
🧠 Emotions aren’t your enemy — they’re information. There is no such thing as a "good" or "bad" emotion. We just like some more than others.
They’re how you relate to everything and everyone around you. They're physiological responses to what you think about and believe.
They signal what matters, what’s missing, and what needs your attention. Similar to lights on the dash board.

Anger might mean your boundaries were crossed.
Sadness might point to something meaningful that’s been lost.
Happiness/Joy usually means important things are going well.
Even stress can signal that you’re carrying too much.

Most people try to feel better by avoiding or numbing these signals.
But long-term relief comes from learning to get better at feeling — so that you can hear what your emotions are saying without being controlled by them.

💡 When you learn to name your emotions and understand their purpose, you gain clarity, confidence, and control.
You take the wheel — instead of letting emotions drive.

That’s what therapy is for. Not just to process feelings, but to build awareness and real tools to handle them differently.

What is therapy, really?

It’s more than just venting — and it’s not about blaming the past.

Therapy is a space to take an honest look at what’s working in your life… and what isn’t.

It’s where you build self-awareness around your thoughts, choices, and behaviors — and how they’re impacting the results you're getting in your relationships, work, and well-being.

When you start recognizing those patterns, you also begin to realize:
👉 You do have choices.
👉 Change is possible — not overnight, but step by step.
👉 You can shift the way you think, relate, and respond.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I help men and professionals cut through the noise, get clear on what they really want, and start building a life that reflects that.

You don’t have to be “in crisis” to benefit from therapy. You just have to be ready to get honest and do the work.

These biblical Truths teach us some important therapeutic truths:

●Proverbs 18:21
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

●Luke 6:43-45
43 “For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, 44 for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. 45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

●Matthew 12:33
33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit.

●Proverbs 23:7
7 For as he thinks within himself, so he is.
He says to you, “Eat and drink!”
But his heart is not with you.

●Proverbs 4:23
23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

This teaches us the power of what we say and think. What we say shows the fruit of what is in our hearts, and what we think develops what goes into our hearts. We are to be careful and intentional with what we allow ourselves to choose to think, believe, and say. We can "make the tree good" by planting seeds of Truth and life in what we think and say. There is hope in the reality that we can do something to produce better fruit with God's help!

🌟Mental Health Challenge!🌟
Choose something True and life-giving about yourself, God, others, and your situation to commit yourself to think, say, and act on and see what fruit can be produced!
