We are home. They silver nitrated it for the time being and are calling to schedule him for surgery in the coming days.

As we head to Children’s for a surgical consult, I think back on our many many trips… today Scotty didn’t know which way we had to go to get to the hospital and that was the most astonishing moment… this little boy use to tell me every turn all the way there for our almost two hour drive! For him to forget I am greatful. It makes me hopefully that some of the mental trauma won’t follow him his entire life!

Scotty went yesterday and seen his team at Children’s. He has a mole/ skin tag in his right leg that keeps bleeding so he has to go next week for a consult with plastic surgery to have it removed. He also sees endocrinology in April, and scans in March.

We got Scotty’s results and there is no evidence of recurrent disease!!!!! Scotty has to have labs in 4-6 weeks because his hemaglobin is trending down, labs and visit with his oncologist is 3 months and then a big set of scans in six months! I have so many mixed emotions about waiting 6 months for scans but I also know this is a good thing.. I just don’t think the constant worry will never get easier! Scotty also has to go see and endo because his growth has plateaued out on his height.. which coul be because his body isnt producing enough growth hormones and he has been on soo many steroids during treatment! Also he is on a 7 day antibiotic.. they seen the mucositis on his scans again in his lungs so he is on the antibiotics to prevent it from turning into full blown pneumonia!

Scotty is out of his scans and we are in the clinic now! Waiting for the doc!!!

Scotty is a true testament to the tiny hero’s that fight childhood cancer. Through Scotty’s diagnosis, we met many other kids fighting their hardest! Ultimately it took them from this earth way too soon!! Raise awareness!

After talking with Scotty’s teacher, principal, and behavioral evaluator , we have made the decision to move him back to kindergarten. He unfortunately does not have some of the core instruction he needs to be able to function in a 1st grade class room. Things like class rules ,peer interaction, and proper grip of a pencil are things he struggles with due to his lengthy hospital stays and missing close to two years of school. They have also suggested having a 504 plan because Scotty still struggles with walking up and down stairs or running and keeping up with the other kids because he tires so easily. The 504 will help implement some help in those departments such as pt, ot, and having a special pass to ride the elevator on days he’s just wore out. I think this is a good plan. Also we started speech therapy to help him regain his pronunciation of some letters and help him with swallowing cuz some foods are still alittle tricky.

Sorry that was such a lengthy post but with that all being said 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁 watch for Scotty’s first day of kindergarten pictures along with his brothers tomorrow … and before anyone asks they will be in separate classes because we love our teachers and those two are like Beavis and Butthead together 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Update: Scotty had an amazing day. His teacher updated me with anything and everything throughout the day. HE EVEN EARNED 3 CLASS DOJO POINTS!!!!

We hit yet another milestone! Today Scotty returned to in person school! He is so excited but has lots of nervous butterflies! Hoping he has an amazing day and makes plenty of new friends! He barely slept between nerves and excitement!

Scotty got to experience going to see monster trucks this weekend.. we got the crash zone pass so the boys got to see all the trucks up close, meet all the drivers, get autographs and get special edition monster truck toys! We sat on the arena floor and played with their new toys just feet away from life size versions! His smile brought tears to my eyes .. they all had an amazing time!
