A huge thank you to everyone who decorated their doors and participated in the fun. Every single one brought personality, creativity, and holiday magic to our space, and it wouldn’t have been the same without all of you.

Boundaries rarely feel empowering at first.
They feel awkward, heavy, and sometimes lonely.
But over time, they create room for relationships that do not require you to disappear in order to belong.
That is the work, staying present without self-erasure.

As part of our movement, we're spotlighting the incredible clinicians who bring warmth and compassion to Lokiten. Today, we’re putting Deanna in the spotlight—known for her calming presence, genuine connection, and the thoughtful use of humor to help clients feel more at ease.

“My goal is to create a gentle holding space by offering a warm, calming, and genuine presence.”

Deanna is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience in public education, residential treatment, and outpatient therapy. She works with children, teens, adults, couples, and families, supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, attachment concerns, body image, trauma, intimate partner violence, and domestic violence. She uses CBT, DBT, and EMDR, blending approaches to match each person’s needs. She also has a special passion for women’s wellness at every stage of life.

Outside of work, Deanna is a proud military spouse and mom to two teens, three dogs, and one cat. She enjoys being outdoors running or skiing, but she’s just as happy spending a cozy night in with a good book.

Deanna’s warmth, insight, and well-timed humor help clients feel safe, supported, and truly understood, reflecting everything we value here at Lokiten.

Most of us spend a big part of the day on autopilot, not because we’re lazy or disengaged, but because our nervous system is trying to get us through everything on our plate.

Mindfulness isn’t snapping yourself out of it or forcing presence.
It’s the quiet moment where you realize, “Oh… I’ve been checked out.”

That realization is awareness.
And awareness is where regulation begins.

Are you still on autopilot, or did you just clock back in?

This past week, we had the chance to pause, connect, and celebrate the people who make Lokiten what it is. Our annual holiday party was a reminder of the dedication, care, and heart our staff brings into this work every day. From laughter and games to meaningful conversations and shared moments, it was a space to reconnect outside of our roles and reflect on the impact we create together.

We are deeply grateful for a team that shows up with compassion, professionalism, and commitment, not just during the holidays, but all year long. The work you do matters, and so does taking time to celebrate one another. Thank you for everything you give to our clients, our community, and each other.

Making routines that support medication consistency is one part of mental health care. How people take care of their mental health will never look exactly the same. For some, that includes therapy, medication, reminders, or simple systems that make follow-through easier day to day.

During busy seasons, especially, routines help keep things consistent. Using habits or structure is a good tool for reducing stress and making care easier to manage. Mental health care works best when it fits real life, honors individual needs, and supports ongoing well-being. There is no single “right” way to engage in care. What matters is that it works for you.

Mental health stigma often thrives in silence, misunderstanding, and the belief that people should “handle it on their own.”

At Lokiten, we work to challenge that by creating spaces where mental health can be talked about openly, respectfully, and without shame. We believe support should feel accessible, not intimidating, and that asking for help is a sign of self-awareness, not weakness.

Ending stigma means listening without judgment, using language that honors lived experience, and meeting people where they are rather than where they “should” be. It means acknowledging that mental health looks different for everyone, and that care is not one-size-fits-all.

Our goal is to make it easier, not harder, for people to speak up, seek support, and feel seen.

As part of our movement, we love spotlighting the leaders who shape Lokiten’s mission, culture, and commitment to compassionate care. Today, we’re putting our Co-Founder and Director of Operations in the spotlight, someone whose dedication has been at the heart of this work for decades.

“I have a passion for taking care of Veterans and individuals struggling with mental health issues.”

His career in mental health advocacy began over 30 years ago while serving in the Army. After retiring in 2009, he continued his service to others through leadership and administration, bringing both structure and heart to every environment he works in. His longtime commitment to supporting Veterans and individuals facing mental health challenges reflects the foundation on which Lokiten was built.

Outside of work, you can often find him playing or watching sports, working in the yard, or tackling projects around the house, always moving, always improving, always showing up with purpose.

His leadership and compassion embody what Lokiten stands for, and we are grateful for the vision and dedication he brings to our team and the community we serve. 💛
