No One Left Behind grieves the loss of National Guard Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, who died from injuries sustained in yesterday's attack. Our hearts break for her family, for Andrew Wolfe who continues fighting for his life, and for all those who knew and served alongside them.

We condemn this act of violence in the strongest possible terms and support a full investigation and decisive justice.

No One Left Behind serves Afghan and Iraqi allies who earned Special Immigrant Visas through direct service alongside U.S. military forces. These wartime partners risked everything to protect American troops, walking into firefights as interpreters, identifying threats that saved convoys, standing watch beside our service members in the most dangerous places on earth. SIV recipients qualified for permanent legal status through multi-year vetting processes administered by the Departments of State, Defense, and Homeland Security, based on documented service vouched for by U.S. military commanders.

As facts continue to emerge, we remain committed to working with government partners to uphold the highest vetting standards while honoring our promises to allies who proved their loyalty under fire. These allies kept their promise to America, and their service saved American lives.

We stand with our service members. And we stand by the allies who served beside them.

Mayar is thriving and he has been reunited with his immediate family in Illinois. It will still be a long road ahead to reunite with his parents and siblings, but he is adjusting well to his new life. The conditions are not yet safe enough to show pictures of his family or his life in the Midwest, but I can say that the American Dream is alive and well within his home!

This chance encounter led to a fulfilling mentorship and enabled other former USAF active duty and vets to get involved through a GoFundMe campaign.

The pieces of legislation highlighted in the post below are just beginning to wind their way through the process and will likely help SMW allies and their families. To qualify, the SMW Afghans have had to complete a rigorous vetting process that took many months to complete. Some are still in the process of safely leaving Afghanistan. Family reunifications have been partial for some. Others may take longer. No One Left Behind has created a useful guide if you want to communicate with your elected representative. These bills are likely to have bi-partisan support, but your voice would certainly improve the odds!

One of our beloved former aircraft, 445, has a new mission and a new life! We wish the plane—and its new operators, maintainers, and users—the best of luck. She was flown and maintained by Afghans and Americans who valued her deeply, and we hope she keeps you as safe as she kept us.
