Due to snow and to allow for safer travel conditions, Adventure Learning Center will have a 2-hour delay tomorrow, Friday 1/9.

🕙 The center will open at 10:00 AM.

Inclement Weather & Operating Status Notification
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Please be advised that ALC will remain open during inclement weather unless an official closure or delay notice is issued by the center. Any adjustments to our operating schedule will typically be communicated by 6:00 AM. If no message is received, families should assume that the center is operating as usual.
Additionally, please note that transportation services are the responsibility of parents and guardians. ALC does not consistently receive notifications regarding school district or third-party transportation delays or cancellations. Therefore, families should monitor their transportation provider directly and make alternate arrangements as needed.

Pediatric physical therapists support children of all ages! 🤩 Whether it’s learning to crawl, walk, play, or participate in sports, PTs are movement superheroes for kids! 🥳

* PT’s Help Kids Hit Milestones — from sitting and crawling to walking and running, PTs help children meet important movement milestones!

* It’s Not Just Rehab — PT for kids isn’t just for recovery. It also helps improve balance, coordination, strength, posture, and even motor planning in fun and engaging ways. 🤩

* Play Is Part of the Therapy — PT sessions often look like playtime as we all see everyday! They use games, obstacle courses, toys, and fun activities to help kids build strength and confidence!

* Every Child Is Unique — PT’s work with kids with a wide range of conditions:

💜 OCTOBER IS AAC AWARENESS MONTH! 💜

As many of you know, AAC stands for ✨ Augmentative and Alternative Communication ✨

— a few fun facts about AAC:

🌟 AAC doesn't stop natural speech — it actually SUPPORTS it! Kids often talk more once they have an AAC device!

🌟 AAC devices can say ANYTHING for our clients — from “I need a break” to “I need a snack!” and we all know how much our clients love to express their wants and needs!

🌟 AAC users have personalities, preferences, and lots of things to say — just like everyone else but in their own very special way 🥹

— a great way you can continue to support AAC users is by..

* Model the AAC — Using the device when talking with our clients! You don’t have to press every single word but just by modeling a few words here and there will show our sweet little friends how they can communicate with us. Kids learn best when they see others use the devices!

* Be Patient! — Always believe that the kiddo can learn and communicate! Never underestimate them, sometimes they just need to know we believe in them and are here to support them in every way possible!

* Include Our Clients! — Our little friends want to play, laugh, and be part of the group. Let them join in and give them the time and tools to do so! They understand much more than we think! Every child deserves to be included in conversations.

We’re here every day to support, teach, and cheer on our amazing clients, especially those who are beginning or have already started their AAC journey and while it takes time to learn how to use their words functionally, every step is a HUGE milestone.

We are thrilled to welcome a new BCBA to our team!

Lauren Garcia has been working in the field of ABA for over 9 years, supporting children with ASD and their families. Her experience includes working with clients aged 2-25 in center, in home, in the community, collaborating in schools, and through telehealth. She is especially passionate about building communication skills, promoting appropriate social interactions, and supporting the family system as a whole. Lauren earned her Masters in ABA from Ball State University, and continues to stay current in the field through ongoing training about varying topics in the field including hands off behavior management, cultural competence, etc. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and dogs, going to concerts, and crocheting.
