All laughs aside, my dad (or my fiancé) is my main source of help for large beekeeping tasks.

Most hive checks and normal tasks I can handle myself or during hive tours (meaning you can tag along!) But I do things differently in my apiary - I don't use chemicals for mite management, I use thermal heat treatments and they can be time & labor intensive.

Sometimes I need help!

All the bees you see here, female. 👑

The majority of honeybee colony is made of female bees which are who you see foraging in your garden. They are also the Queen's attendants (seen here), maid bees, the nurse bees, guard bees, and fill generally any roll within the hive other than mating.

It's believed that a greater number of attendants, and more attentive attendants, to the Queen can represent strong pheromones and in turn, represent a strong Queen equalling a healthy hive.

My business is lead by passion and nothing makes me happier than sharing this sacred gift of honeybees with people that otherwise would never have the opportunity.

My beekeeping journey was HARD

I entered into a hobby of age old wisdom, opinions and "we do it this way because we always have" attitudes

A world of "treat 'em if you got 'em"

A club of men from an older generation.

But I wanted to do things differently. I wanted to take care of my bees because I chose to be a care taker, not because there was a trade off.

I do things differently.

I don't use smoke.
I do use sound: singing and humming.
I don't treat with acids or chemicals.
I do use heat to manage mites.
I don't read all the books.
I do call upon my shamanic lineage to guide me.
I don't know it all.
I do make mistakes.

And it took a long time, and lots of serendipitous happenings for me to find how easy it gets to be.

It's simple.
It's sunshine & good vibes & long, fulfilling days.
