Atlas Turns 3 ✨

Three years ago in October, Atlas began with a simple but powerful mission:
to create a place where kids feel safe, supported, understood, and truly seen.

Since then, we’ve grown from a tiny space with a handful of families to a thriving, two-story clinic filled with laughter, learning, connection, and heart. Our reach has expanded, but our values have stayed the same; assent, compassion, and child-led care every step of the way.

What makes Atlas special isn’t just our growth.
It’s our team.

A team who pours their whole hearts into our kids.
A team who shows up with patience, creativity, and love.
A team who celebrates every small victory as if it were their own.
A team who believes deeply in the impact we’re making together.

To our families: thank you for trusting us.
To our kids: thank you for teaching us joy and bravery every single day.
To our staff (of 25 now!): thank you for building this with us.

🎃 October Faces of Atlas Highlight!

This month we’re celebrating Corina, who brings warmth, creativity, and heart to every session. 💙 Originally from Venezuela, Corina has worked with children for over 10 years and is currently earning her Master’s to become a BCBA! She proudly embraces her neurodivergence and uses it to connect deeply with the patients we serve. Corina just celebrated her 1-year anniversary with Atlas!✨

🫱🏽‍🫲🏼 What Is Assent-Based Care?
At Atlas, assent isn’t just a buzzword, it’s the heart of everything we do. 💛

Assent means listening to a child’s voice; whether that’s spoken, signed, shown through behavior, or expressed through body language. It means honoring their “yes,” respecting their “no,” and making sure they are a willing participant in their care.

In our sessions, this looks like:
✨ Offering choices
✨ Checking in and noticing nonverbal cues
✨ Creating environments where kids feel safe to say “I don’t want to”
✨ Pausing or adjusting when a child is dysregulated, because connection matters more than compliance

We believe therapy should be a partnership, not a power dynamic.
Our team is trained to support regulation, build trust, and respond with compassion, always. Because when kids feel heard, respected, and safe… that’s where the real growth happens.

Sensory-Friendly 4th of July Tips 🎇

At Atlas, we understand that some of our patients find fireworks, crowds, and loud festivities overwhelming. We wanted to offer some sensory-friendly ideas for celebrating the 4th with calm, comfort, and connection!

🧡 Plan ahead
🧡 Provide noise-canceling headphones
🧡 Create a “quiet zone” or cozy space
🧡 Consider alternative celebrations: glow sticks, sparklers, backyard picnics, etc.

We believe that every child deserves to feel safe and included. Whatever your family chooses to do, we’re cheering you on with love and support. 💫
