Friday the 13th isn't unlucky, it's POWERFUL 🖤🔮

While everyone else is avoiding black cats and ladders, I'm over here lighting candles and leaning INTO this energy.

Friday the 13th has been associated with feminine power for centuries. Friday is Venus's day (named after Freya/Venus, goddesses of love and magic). And 13? That's the number of moon cycles in a year, deeply connected to feminine rhythms and the divine feminine.

The 'unlucky' narrative? That came later, likely as a way to demonize feminine power and pagan practices.

So today, I'm reclaiming it.

My Friday the 13th practice:
🖤 Setting up my altar with black candles and obsidian
🖤 Doing shadow work—what am I ready to face that I've been avoiding?
🖤 Protection magic and boundary setting
🖤 Moving in ways that feel POWERFUL (lots of Fire element today)
🖤 Honoring the divine feminine and the number 13

This day is about claiming your power, facing your shadows, and remembering that what society calls 'dark' is often just STRONG feminine energy that makes people uncomfortable.

So yeah, I'm practicing today, and it's going to be POTENT.

Today, the Moon is void of course, floating in the space between signs, making no major aspects to other planets. She's in LIMINAL space. The in-between. The void.

And honestly? It's the perfect energy for Mercury retrograde season or just... existing in 2026.

What "void of course" means:
The Moon has completed her work in one sign but hasn't yet entered the next. She's in transition. Unanchored and drifting.

Astrologically, this is considered "dead time," which is not ideal for starting new projects, making big decisions, or launching important endeavors. Things initiated during void Moon often fizzle out, go nowhere, or require do-overs.

But here's what void Moon IS good for:
🌑 Rest and integration
🌑 Meditation and dreamwork
🌑 Creative flow without attachment to outcome
🌑 Processing emotions
🌑 Being instead of doing
🌑 Ritual baths and self-care
🌑 Gentle movement practices (hint hint)

In my personal practice on Wednesday, I'm leaning INTO the void. Slow flows. Water element. Movements that ask nothing of me except presence. No pushing, no achieving, no forcing.

The void isn't empty, it's FULL of potential. It's the pause between breaths. The rest between notes. The space where transformation happens when we're not watching.

Wednesday's practice: Don't start anything new. Don't force decisions. Just BE in the in-between.

The Moon will move into her next sign soon enough. For now, float 🌑✨

How do you honor liminal time?

This is what fusion looks like.

️Standing forward fold (uttanasana) meets belly dance figure eights. Yoga meets dance. Stillness meets flow.

In a traditional forward fold, you're releasing your spine, letting gravity pull you down, surrendering into the stretch. You're STILL.

But what if you're not?

What if, while folded, your hips trace figure eights? Those infinity symbols we know from the Water element in belly dance.

What if you let your lower body FLOW while your upper body releases?

What happens:

Your hamstrings get a dynamic stretch instead of a static one. Your hips open in new ways. Your spine gets gentle movement and traction. And you discover that stillness and movement can exist in the same moment.

This is the beauty of fusion; we don't have to choose between yoga and dance. We can let them inform each other, support each other, create something entirely new.

How to practice:
Come into a standing forward fold, knees soft, letting your upper body hang heavy. Root through your feet. Then let your hips begin to draw figure eights, up on one side, down through center, up on the other side. Slow, fluid, continuous.

Let your upper body stay relaxed while your lower body dances. Let gravity hold you while the Water element flows through you.

This is Earth (grounding in the fold) meeting Water (flowing in the figure eight). This is yoga meeting belly dance. This is fusion.

Behind the scenes teaching philosophy: I don't offer hands-on assists in my classes.
And it's deeply intentional.

Here's why:
I'm not in your body. No matter how well I know anatomy or alignment, I can't feel what you're feeling in that moment. I don't know if you're nursing an old injury, processing grief, riding a wave of anxiety, or experiencing something I can't see. Your body's wisdom in that moment supersedes my external observation every single time.

Energy is real. As a witch and energy worker, I know that touch isn't neutral. When I step into your space and place my hands on your body, I'm bringing MY energy into YOUR experience. And maybe you came to class specifically to get OUT of other people's energy. Maybe this is your one hour to be fully in YOUR body, YOUR breath, YOUR experience without anyone else's influence. I don't want my energy, no matter how well-intentioned, to become a distraction from your practice.

Your autonomy is sacred. This is YOUR hour. Your body is YOUR temple. My job isn't to fix you or correct you, it's to hold space for you to explore, to discover, to BE exactly as you are in this moment.

I'll offer verbal cues. I'll demonstrate. I'll suggest modifications. But I won't touch you unless you explicitly ask for a specific assist AND I feel it's safe and beneficial.

Your practice belongs to you. Not to me, not to some "perfect" alignment, not to what the pose is "supposed" to look like.

When you're in my class, you get to be FULLY yourself, in your own energy field, exploring your own body's capabilities and boundaries. That's not me being hands-off, that's me honoring that your body and your energy are sovereign.

This is part of what it means to practice witchcraft through movement: understanding that we're not just physical bodies. We're energetic beings. And sometimes the most powerful thing a teacher can do is create space and then GET OUT OF THE WAY.

Your body knows. Trust it.

This transit says: love and creativity need FREEDOM to thrive.

Venus is our capacity for love, beauty, pleasure, and connection. Uranus is the revolutionary, the planet of authenticity, sudden change, and breaking free from convention.

When they harmonize, we get relationships and creative expression that refuse to be boxed in.

This is not the energy of traditional commitment or playing by the rules. This is the energy of:
💗 Loving people for exactly who they are, not who we want them to be
⚡ Giving yourself and others space to be weird, wild, and authentic
💗 Creating art or movement that breaks your own patterns
⚡ Expressing yourself uniquely without apology
💗 Releasing relationships or creative projects that feel forced or restrictive

In movement, this looks like IMPROVISATION. Like letting your body do something unexpected. Like breaking your own choreography and seeing what wants to emerge.
In relationships (romantic, friendship, community), this looks like freedom within connection, and trusting that real love doesn't require control or forced commitment.

Venus sextile Uranus reminds us: you can't force authenticity. You can't manufacture genuine connection. You can only create the conditions for it to emerge.

This week, give yourself permission to:
✨ Express yourself in ways that feel true, not acceptable
✨ Let your relationships be what they are, not what you think they should be
✨ Create something just because it feels good, not because it makes sense
✨ Be gloriously, unapologetically YOU

Earth Element: Resonance Pathways as a Learning Tool

Remember resonance pathways? Moving between two energetic points on your body, the foundation of Earth element work.

We usually think of these as simple side-to-side movements (hips left to right, chest left to right). But here's where it gets interesting: resonance pathways are also how we learn new movements.

What you're seeing:
My chest moving on a diagonal pathway, from front left to back right, then reversing from back right to front left. This is a twist combined with a shift, and it's not a movement most people do naturally.

So how do we learn it? By treating it as a resonance pathway.

The practice:
Identify your two points: front left position and back right position. Stand in your Earth element foundation, feet grounded, knees soft, lower body stable.

Move slowly from point A to point B. Front left, to back right. Feel exactly where you are at each point. Then reverse: back right, to front left.

This is Earth element teaching us to learn. By creating a clear pathway between two distinct points, we map new movement into our bodies. We're literally creating neural pathways through repetition and awareness.

Why this matters:
Earth isn't just about grounding, it's about knowing where you are. When you're learning something new and challenging, Earth element gives you the structure to break it down:

Define your two points clearly
Move between them slowly and deliberately
Feel your edges and boundaries
Build the pathway through repetition

Once the pathway is established? Then you can speed it up, play with it, let Fire or Water or Air move through it. But first, you need the foundation.

This is how I'm learning that three quarter shimmy on the down that's been kicking my butt, by slowing it down, finding the two points, and building the pathway step by step.

Earth teaches us: you can't skip the foundation. But once you build it? Everything else becomes possible.

Mercury Retrograde Starts Today

*Cue the collective groan*

Yes, Mercury retrograde has a reputation for tech glitches, miscommunications, and plans falling apart. And yes, those things might happen. Back up your files, read emails twice before sending, and don't sign major contracts if you can avoid it.

But here's what I want you to know: Mercury retrograde isn't just cosmic chaos. It's an invitation.

Mercury rules communication, technology, travel, and how we process information. When it goes retrograde (appears to move backward), we get a chance to REVIEW, REVISE, and REFLECT on how we're using these things.

This retrograde asks:
🔄 How do I communicate with others? Is it honest? Is it kind? Is it clear?
🔄 How do I use technology? Does it serve me or drain me?
🔄 What conversations need to be revisited?
🔄 What old ideas or projects deserve a second look?

Instead of fighting the retrograde energy, work WITH it. This is a beautiful time to:
✨ Step back and rest if you have the space
✨ Revisit old creative projects
✨ Journal about patterns in your communication
✨ Reassess your relationship with tech and social media
✨ Slow down instead of pushing forward

If things get whacky (and they might), take it as a sign to pause rather than force.
Mercury retrograde isn't out to get you. It's asking you to look back before you move forward.

Air Element: Undulations

Air is the element of expansion, breath, and lift. And undulations are how we embody that, creating waves through our body that move like wind through trees. An undulation is a ripple of movement that travels through your spine and torso. It can move up (from pelvis to chest), down (from chest to pelvis), or even side to side. Each direction creates a different quality, but all of them require the same thing: breath and expansion.

What you're seeing in this video:
Up to Down: Starting from my chest, the wave moves down through my ribcage, through my belly, ending in my pelvis. Like a breath releasing downward.

Down to Up: Starting from my pelvis, the wave moves up through my belly, through my chest, lifting toward the sky. Like breath rising.

Side-to-Side: The undulation moves laterally through my torso, creating a serpentine quality.

Why this is Air:
Air element is about breath, lift, and expansion. Undulations require us to breathe fully, to create space in our bodies, to let movement ripple through us without gripping or forcing.

In yoga, Air shows up in our balance poses, that lifted, expansive quality.

In belly dance, Air is our undulations, our arm pathways, anything that moves upward or creates length through the body.

How to practice: Stand with soft knees. Take a deep breath and let your chest expand. As you exhale, let that expansion travel down your body like a wave, chest, ribs, belly, pelvis.

Then reverse it. Start from the pelvis and let the wave move up. Don't force it. Let it breathe through you. Air teaches us that we can be both lifted and flowing. Strong and soft. Grounded and expansive.
