🌿 Community Means Something HERE, so let’s address the Elephant in the room 🌱
The longer I do this work, the more I realize how important it is to stand firmly in the kind of energy I want wildCRAFT to be known for. Collaboration, kindness, curiosity, and genuine connection, that’s the heart of CommuniTea. That’s the heart of everything I create. So when I’m met with the opposite in spaces that are supposed to be rooted in healing, herbalism, and community care… it’s uncomfortable. And honestly, it’s disappointing.
At today’s market, another herbalist went out of her way to quietly request not being placed next to me, after already making it clear last season that she didn’t want to engage, even when I offered a simple sample in kindness. She said it within my ear shot, though. Let me be clear, I understand wanting variety and spacing at markets, but the energy behind this wasn’t about logistics. It was exclusion, plain and simple. And that kind of behavior has no place in a community that claims to be about connection, healing, or shared growth.
But here’s the thing: I’m not matching that energy. I’m not shrinking. I’m not hardening. I’m not letting someone else’s unprofessionalism define the way I show up. I will always choose openness. I will always choose collaboration. I will always choose to make space for others, even when they don’t make space for me. Because wildCRAFT was built on the belief that there is room for all of us. That herbalism is richer when we learn from each other. That tea tastes better when shared. That community is something we create through our actions, not our hashtags.
So to the organizers who trust me, to the small business owners who welcome me, and to the customers who feel the difference, thank you. You remind me why I do this. You remind me that integrity matters. And you remind me that the right people will always find each other, even in crowded markets.
