What if you reframed every restricted food or cut calorie as a loss of energy?

A loss of energy to fuel your adventures.
A loss of energy to make a new memory.
A loss of energy to be present and enjoy new foods.

Because that’s what it is! Restricting robs you of joy when traveling.

When we under-eat on trips to “make up for it later” or stick to rigid food rules, we’re not just missing calories—we’re missing moments.

✨ Fueling well means:
✅ More energy for the activities you love
✅ Less time thinking about food
✅ More presence for the people and places around you

Every memory you want to make needs energy behind it. So eat the breakfast. Order the gelato. Savor the dinner.

Because you deserve a trip that’s powered by joy, not hunger. 💛

Some of these sound supportive on the surface… almost like a more “balanced” way to approach food.

But when you look a little closer, a lot of these messages still carry quiet rules—just delivered in a way that feels more acceptable.

Diet culture did not get louder… it just got better at blending in with wellness language.

If you want a more grounded approach to nutrition that does not revolve around rules in disguise. Our amazing and professional non-diet dietitian nutritionists offer evidence-based nutritional counseling designed to support a more flexible and sustainable relationship with food. Head over to 👉 maddoxnutrition.co to learn more about how we support clients.

I didn’t realize how much my relationship with food was shaping my relationship with God.. until it was.

There was a time when food, my body, and the pressure to “get it right” were louder than anything else. Even moments that were meant to feel meaningful or grounding felt overshadowed by stress, guilt, or overthinking.

And maybe you’ve felt that too. You've felt where food thoughts follow you everywhere, even into the spaces that are supposed to feel peaceful.

Healing, for me, didn’t mean those thoughts disappeared overnight..
but it did mean learning that they don’t get to define me anymore.

And slowly, I began to experience a different kind of peace... one that wasn’t tied to what I ate, how I looked, or how “on track” I felt.

Wherever you are in your journey, you’re allowed to take up space here without having everything figured out.

Save this post if you’re learning to untangle your faith from food guilt, or if you need a reminder that your worth was never meant to be measured by your body or your choices around food.

And if you’re looking with nutritional support with faith-based integration (when you, the client, request it), Maddox Nutrition has amazing non-diet dietitians who are here to support you with compassion and evidence-based care 🤍

Jesus' life, death, and resurrection is what gives complete freedom from the chains of sin, and death, and everything that's broken in this world - including diet culture, EDs, and being at war with our bodies.

Right now, we know that the diet talk is getting LOUD and telling everyone to "avoid temptations." It’s all designed to make you feel like Easter is a minefield you have to navigate very carefully.. but I'm telling you that the Easter's focus is about Christ's unconditional love, the fulfillment of God's promise of new beginnings with new hope, and redemption.

Today, if you ever get distracted and eat more than you intended, find some self-compassion. You’re human, and one afternoon of chocolate bunnies and other delicious meals doesn't change your worth. You can enjoy the food you love and continue to nourish your body.

However you’re spending your Easter, I hope you find space for the traditions and people you truly enjoy. Most of all, remember that your worth is rooted in Christ’s unconditional grace, which is far more greater than any food rule or body image stress. 🐣✨💖

Is it bad to drink coffee first thing in the morning?

Not necessarily.

Coffee contains caffeine, which is a stimulant that can help you feel more alert by activating your central nervous system. This is why many people reach for it first thing in the morning.

However, it is important to understand that this feeling of “energy” is not the same as nourishment.

Caffeine does not provide the macronutrients your body needs after an overnight fast. While it may help you feel awake, it does not supply carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins, or minerals that support sustained energy, focus, and overall function.

From a non-diet and intuitive eating perspective, the goal is not to avoid coffee. You are allowed to enjoy your morning cup. The gentle reminder is to consider pairing it with food when you can. 🍪🥐🥯🥪

Even a small snack can help support more stable energy levels and prevent that mid-morning crash, irritability, or difficulty concentrating.

There is also a common belief that drinking coffee on an empty stomach will “damage” your stomach or significantly disrupt your hormones. For most people, this is not supported by strong evidence. Some individuals may feel discomfort, especially if they are sensitive to caffeine, but this is not a universal rule.

Instead of rigid rules, it can be more helpful to notice how your body responds and respond with care.

Coffee can be part of your morning routine.

And your body still benefits from nourishment alongside it.
