April is Alcohol Awareness Month, a time to increase understanding around alcohol misuse and encourage informed, healthy choices for both adults and youth.

At Cedar Springs Hospital, we support sobriety through medical detox and withdrawal management services, providing structured care for individuals beginning recovery from alcohol use disorder. We also recognize the importance of prevention and education, as underage drinking can have long‑term effects on mental health, development and future substance use.

Recovery, prevention and support begin with awareness, and we’re here to help.

We were proud to host our first Continuing Education Lunch and Learn of the year at Cedar Springs Hospital.

On March 26, we welcomed community professionals for an engaging CE event on using art therapy interventions to treat substance use disorder, presented by Harmonie Kerkow, MS, LPC. Attendees earned 1.0 NBCC‑approved CE credit while connecting, learning and exploring approaches in behavioral health care.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event a success. We look forward to continuing our CE series and strengthening collaboration across our professional community.

If you’re interested in attending our next CE Lunch and Learn, contact angela.quadrani@uhsinc.com for more information.
