When I was younger, I used to have a list — things I needed to change about me. You know — weight, how much I knew or didn’t know, how I kept my house, …. I was always looking for the next article or book to help fix me. The funny thing is that the more I tried to fix myself, the mor broken I felt. Something shifted in my 50s that stopped that constant search and led me to a space of contentment.

Trying to fix ourselves increases our stress. It takes us three times to recover from it in our 40s as in our 20s. If you are ready for a reset that takes you out of the fix-me garage, start here so you’re prepared for the next gotta-fix-me panic. Take a breath, exhale longer than you inhale, and notice three things in your space that make you smile.
