Your body is not the problem. It never was. 🌿

When you’re deep in recovery — whether that’s from an eating disorder, body image struggles, or just the daily noise of diet culture — coming back to your body can feel scary. Impossible, even.

But healing doesn’t happen all at once. It happens in the small moments. A breath. A pause. A hand on your heart.
Swipe through for grounding practices you can use the next time things feel overwhelming. Save this for when you need it most. 🤍

All credit to the brilliant and her book Are You Mad at Me? — a must-read if you’re doing this kind of work.

If you’ve ever wondered why food and your body feel so hard to navigate — this might be worth a read. 👉 Swipe through.
The fawn response isn’t a flaw. It was survival. But when we learn to disconnect from our own needs to keep the peace, our relationship with food and our bodies often pays the price.

Fawning. Diet culture. Disordered eating. Three very different things that all send the same message: you are too much, and you need to be less.

Healing doesn’t start with a meal plan. It starts with understanding the story your nervous system learned — and recognizing that story doesn’t have to define you.

More tools for reconnecting with your needs are coming. Stay close. 🤍

✨ Meet Christine Murphy, RD — one of our incredible dietitians here at Side by Side Nutrition!

Christine is a trauma-informed dietitian who believes in compassionate nourishment for the whole person — body, story, and soul. 🌿

She specializes in working with teens and adults whose relationship with food is rooted in early experiences, attachment dynamics, and nervous system patterns. Using a narrative-focused approach, she helps clients separate shame from experience and build lasting, meaningful change.
When she’s not in session, you might find her tending her garden (purple tomatillos this year! 🟣), painting, crocheting, or dreaming of the rugged coastlines of Scotland.

👉 Swipe through to get to know her, then send us a message or visit the link in our bio if you’re interested in working with Christine or any of our dietitians.

Meet Madeline Roberts, RD. 🌿

Madeline specializes in eating disorders across the lifespan, with a special focus on adolescents, young adults, and families navigating recovery together. Whether she’s working through ARFID with a kiddo, supporting a family using FBT, or helping someone rebuild trust with their body after years of dieting — she shows up with warmth, expertise, and zero judgment.

When she’s not in session, you might find her tending her vegetable garden, napping in a hammock, or bouncing state to state in her 1991 pop-top camper with her wife and toddler. 🚐

We’re so glad she’s part of our team. Swipe to get to know her a little better. 👉

Interested in working with Madeline? Send us a DM or tap the link in our bio to get started.

People pleasing doesn’t just show up in our relationships — it shows up in how we eat, how we move, and how we talk to our bodies. 💛

This week’s blog post was written by one of our own clients, Maria, who shares how learning to trust external voices — diet culture, beauty standards, the noise of social media — meant slowly losing trust in herself. And how she found her way back.

If you’ve ever felt like your body is the problem, this one is for you. Swipe through for some highlights, then read her full story at the link in bio.

Ready to start rebuilding trust with your body and food? Our team is here to support you.

The transition to college is hard enough — but no one talks about what it does to your relationship with food. 🎓

One of our clients wrote a research essay on exactly this, and what he found might surprise you (or validate everything you’ve been feeling).

Swipe through to learn what research reveals about college students and food ➡️

From dining hall limitations to the sudden pressure of feeding yourself for the first time, the challenges are real — and they’re not your fault.

Save this if you’re a college student (or know one) who’s been struggling with eating. You deserve support that understands the full picture. 💛

The transition to college brings a lot of firsts — independence, new friendships, late-night study sessions. But for many students, it also brings a hidden struggle with food and body image.

Nearly 1 in 3 college students now show signs of eating disorder risk, and most never ask for help. Swipe through to learn what eating disorders actually look like on campus, how to support a friend, and where to find help.

If you or someone you know is struggling: you don’t have to figure this out alone. Your campus counseling center is a great place to start, and connecting with a specialized dietitian can be an important part of recovery.

💛 Save this post. Share it with someone who might need it. Let’s make asking for help feel a little less scary.

We need to talk about eating disorders differently.

Behind the statistics are real people—LGBTQ+ youth, BIPOC communities, athletes, veterans, and so many others who often go undiagnosed or can’t access care. The numbers tell a story about systemic barriers, stereotypes, and who gets left behind.

But they also tell us something else: recovery is possible when we create equitable, affirming support for everyone.
Swipe to learn the facts. Share to spread awareness. Reach out if you need help—the resources are in slide 9. 💙
