The transition to college is hard enough — but no one talks about what it does to your relationship with food. 🎓

One of our clients wrote a research essay on exactly this, and what he found might surprise you (or validate everything you’ve been feeling).

Swipe through to learn what research reveals about college students and food ➡️

From dining hall limitations to the sudden pressure of feeding yourself for the first time, the challenges are real — and they’re not your fault.

Save this if you’re a college student (or know one) who’s been struggling with eating. You deserve support that understands the full picture. 💛

The transition to college brings a lot of firsts — independence, new friendships, late-night study sessions. But for many students, it also brings a hidden struggle with food and body image.

Nearly 1 in 3 college students now show signs of eating disorder risk, and most never ask for help. Swipe through to learn what eating disorders actually look like on campus, how to support a friend, and where to find help.

If you or someone you know is struggling: you don’t have to figure this out alone. Your campus counseling center is a great place to start, and connecting with a specialized dietitian can be an important part of recovery.

💛 Save this post. Share it with someone who might need it. Let’s make asking for help feel a little less scary.

We need to talk about eating disorders differently.

Behind the statistics are real people—LGBTQ+ youth, BIPOC communities, athletes, veterans, and so many others who often go undiagnosed or can’t access care. The numbers tell a story about systemic barriers, stereotypes, and who gets left behind.

But they also tell us something else: recovery is possible when we create equitable, affirming support for everyone.

Do you really need more protein? (Probably not.) 🤷‍♀️

The high-protein trend is everywhere right now. Protein cereal, protein chips, protein pasta, protein water—the food industry is capitalizing on our collective protein anxiety, and it’s projected to be a $23 billion market by 2032.

But here’s the thing: most people eating a varied diet are already getting plenty of protein.

Fitness influencers love to recommend 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight (over double the RDA!), but that’s not backed by science for the average person. Unless you’re a competitive athlete or bodybuilder, you simply don’t need that much.

The truth is:
→ Protein shows up in more foods than you think—even grains and vegetables contain some
→ If you’re including protein sources like beans, lentils, nuts, dairy, eggs, or meat at most meals, you’re likely meeting your needs
→ If your meals keep you satisfied and feeling good, you’re probably getting what you need

Protein has always been important, but the protein obsession is just a trend driven by algorithms and marketing—not by your body’s actual needs.

Trust your hunger, trust your body, and tune out the noise. 💚

Movement is so much more than what you see in the mirror. 🤸‍♂️🧘🏊‍♀️

We’ve been conditioned to think about exercise as a tool for changing how we look. But what if we shifted our focus to how movement makes us feel?

Here are 7 incredible benefits of movement that have nothing to do with appearance:
✨ Stress relief and emotional regulation
✨ Clearer thinking and focus
✨ More sustained energy throughout the day
✨ Better, more restful sleep
✨ Connection, joy, and fun
✨ Confidence and self-trust
✨ Pain management and improved mobility

The goal isn’t to punish your body or chase a certain look. The goal is a life where you have energy for the things you care about and treat your body with the care and respect it deserves.

So ask yourself: What kinds of movement make me feel good? What brings me joy? What helps me feel more connected to myself and others?

That’s where true wellness lives.

Your period isn’t optional—it’s a vital sign. 🫀

If you’ve lost your period, you might have felt relieved at first. But now you understand what it really means: your body doesn’t feel safe enough to support all its essential functions.

Here’s the truth: recovery is possible. With 6 months of consistent effort—eating more, reducing exercise, managing stress, and accepting that your body may change—most women can get their period back, whether it’s been gone for 3 months or 10 years.

The journey isn’t always easy, but on the other side? You’ll find energy that lasts, peace with your body, and the feeling of being yourself again.

You don’t have to do this alone. Our dietitians specialize in helping women recover their periods while rebuilding trust with food.

This quote hits different in 2026.

We’re watching the same lie play out on two stages: the one that says your body must shrink to have value, and the one that says entire communities must make themselves smaller, quieter, more compliant—or disappear—to deserve dignity.

Both systems profit from the same con: that worth must be earned rather than recognized as inherent.

Right now, policies are stripping people of their rights to safety, healthcare, family unity, and bodily autonomy—all while demanding they prove they deserve basic human dignity. Travel bans. Mass deportations. Attacks on reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights. The message is clear: you only matter if you make yourself acceptable to power.

But here’s the rebellion: refusing to accept that framework entirely.

Your body has value right now, as it is. Immigrants and refugees have value right now, as they are. Every person has inherent dignity—no conditions, no earning it, no shrinking required.

Standing up for human dignity means rejecting the lie that anyone needs to be smaller, different, or “worthy enough” to matter.

What does embodiment—being fully yourself, taking up your space—look like as resistance in your life right now?

Your body is always communicating with you. Are you listening?👂

Underfueling doesn’t always look like what you’d expect. Sometimes the signs are subtle, and sometimes they’re screaming at you. Here are 5 common ways your body tells you it needs more:

1️⃣ Missing or irregular periods
2️⃣ Recurrent injuries that won’t heal
3️⃣ Feeling cold constantly
4️⃣ Mood swings, irritability, or low mood
5️⃣ Digestive issues like bloating or constipation

Here’s the good news: None of these symptoms are permanent. With consistent, adequate fueling and the right support, your body CAN and WILL heal. You don’t have to push through the discomfort or accept these symptoms as “normal.” You deserve nourishment, rest, and repair.

If you’re experiencing any of these signs, know that you’re not alone—and help is available. Drop a 💚 if this resonates, or DM us to learn how we can support you.

🔺What started as the “Female Athlete Triad” has evolved into something much bigger.

🏋️ REDs (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport) shows us that undereating relative to your activity level affects EVERY system in your body—not just three. And here’s what matters most: this impacts ALL athletes, regardless of s*x, gender, exercise intensity, or eating disorder history.

➡️ Swipe through to see how our understanding has grown and why proper fueling isn’t just about performance—it’s about your heart, brain, bones, immune system, sleep, and so much more.

🚴 The bottom line: You deserve support from people who understand how to balance athletic performance AND a healthy relationship with food. That’s exactly what we do.

The myth that’s hurting athletes: Leaner = Stronger, Lighter = Faster, Smaller = Better.

Sports culture has convinced us that shrinking our bodies is the path to better performance. But the research tells a completely different story.

Athletes with low energy availability face:
• 4X higher fracture risk
• 3X higher risk of metabolic issues
• 2.5X more cardiovascular problems
• 2.3X higher rates of depression

And here’s what many coaches miss: you can look “lean” and “fit” while your bones are weakening, your hormones are crashing, and your performance is declining.

Body size and shape do NOT reveal health.

The truth? Underfueling doesn’t make you faster—it makes you slower, more injured, and puts your long-term health at risk.

You don’t have to shrink to be a great athlete. You deserve support that prioritizes your performance AND your health.
