🍁🦃 Thanksgiving is the perfect time to get your kiddos in the kitchen!
When you invite your child to help prepare a Thanksgiving dish, you’re opening the door to language growth, sensory exploration, and hands-on learning. Try these simple ideas while you cook together:
1. Inferencing Fun: Lay out all the ingredients and let your child guess what Thanksgiving treat you’ll be making.
2. Time Words in Action: Use temporal concepts during each step—first, we mix… next, we pour… after, we bake… finally, we taste!
3. Sequencing Skills: When you’re done, ask your child to retell the steps in order. This boosts expressive language and organization skills.
4. Sensory + Describing: Talk about the smells of spices, the texture of dough, the warmth of fresh food, and the flavors they taste. Perfect for picky eaters who benefit from gentle sensory exposure!
