My name is Dawn Ramsden, and I have been a Massage Therapist since 1997. After watching my mother come home each week renewed and refreshed after her massage appointments, I was inspired to become professionally trained to impact the lives of many others.
I attended the Carolina School of Massage Therapy and was the last graduating class in February of 1999. The school taught a well rounded curriculum including modalities like Swedish, Deep Pressure, Sports, Acupressure and energetic work like Somatic Awareness and Polarity. Since that time, I have take continuing education including Hot Stone Therapies, Advanced Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques, Kinisiology Taping and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, and Quantum Crystalline Energy Healing.
When I began offering massage therapy to the Sanford, NC community after graduation with the opening of "Touch of Carolina Therapeutic Massage", I treated a lot of clients who struggled with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue issues. I pursued a career in Medical Assisting to learn more about the clinical ways to treat the disease and to assist the doctor that I shared office space with. I was also inspired to work in orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, as well as family practice. In 2001, I became Nationally Board Certified and I was one of the first Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist after the State Board was conceived.
After taking a few years off while my husband and I moved to Colorado and our family grew, I was very excited to return to North Carolina in June of 2014 and be re-licensed. My husband suffered several injuries to his back and he was medically retired from the Army. My thirst for knowledge to understand and treat pain began. After months of reading articles, I attended my first Myoskeletal Alignment Technique Seminar. I enjoyed working with people in the Chapel Hill, NC community while working at Hand and Stone Massage & Facial Spa in Meadowmont Village. From athletes and physicians to active seniors, my fan club grew as they had never experienced the Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques before or had lasting results from one massage session like that.
