"It’s amazing to watch that little glimmer of hope and the knowledge that they can do this. They just want someone to see them and hear them and accept them for who they are.”

Lorie is a survivor of sexual trauma, m**h addiction and post-incarceration. She gets to be the mentor she needed.

Loving someone with addiction isn’t about fixing them, and it’s not about having all the answers. It is possible to find clarity and tools that help you let go of guilt, set boundaries and honor your own health. And when you start doing that, som**hing amazing happens. Your world gets bigger again.

If you know someone impacted by family addiction, please share this message. There is hope and help. 💚

Anne compares some of her early conversations with her peer coach to the movie “Bridesmaids.”

“There’s a scene where Melissa McCarthy’s character says, ‘I’m life, Annie. I’m trying to get you to fight for your sh*tty life.’ That was basically Kattie to me,” she said, laughing. “She saw that person in there fighting, and now my life isn’t sh*tty anymore.” Read more about her heartfelt story: https://www.wefaceittogether.org/stories/anne-sobriety-vulnerability-growth
