🆘
VERY IMPORTANT Email from AKA- New Mexico, Massachusetts, Ohio & California

This week is a big one for kratom policy across the country, and your engagement is critical. Below is a quick rundown of key events and how you can plug in—no matter where you live.

Special Online Meeting for Illinois & Utah Advocates

Tuesday, November 18th – 7:30 PM CT / 6:30 PM MT

Illinois and Utah advocates are invited to a special online strategy meeting to discuss local kratom issues and next steps. This meeting will cover what’s happening in your state and how you can be most effective stopping local issues. The AKA is conducting special state meetings regularly as issues arise so more to come

👉 Register here- http://bit.ly/4oQBUqI

Massachusetts – Kratom Regulation Hearing

Bill: H.2454 – An Act concerning the regulation of kratom
When: Tuesday, November 18th – 1:00 PM–5:00 PM
Where: Hearing Room A-1

Massachusetts is considering a Kratom Consumer Protection Act–style regulation that would set standards for safe kratom products rather than banning them.

If you can attend in person, your presence in A-1 helps show that kratom consumers are paying attention.

California – Urgent Local Threats in Fresno County & Fresno City

California continues to face serious local threats, including efforts to ban kratom instead of regulate it. Two key meetings are happening this week:

Fresno County: Proposed ordinance to regulate and prohibit kratom sales in unincorporated areas – Meeting on November 18th

Fresno City: Local meeting on kratom – Meeting on November 20th

If you live in California (or especially in the Fresno area):

Go to the California Protect Kratom Page for full details, talking points, and instructions on emailing local officials:

👉Protect Kratom in California Page Link- https://www.protectkratom.org/california

Please Send emails before the meetings.

-Be sure to include the meeting date and the specific agenda item in the subject line as instructed on the Protect Kratom site.

-Attend in person if you’re able—local decisions like these can set precedents for the rest of the state (and even the country).

Ohio – Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA) Hearing

Bill: S.B. 299 – Regards sales of kratom products
When: Tuesday, November 18th – 2:00 PM
Where: Senate Building

This is an important Ohio KCPA hearing, but public testimony is not being accepted for this session. The AKA legislative Team is very active in Ohio.

Even if your state isn’t listed above, you can still:

Stay alert for local and state kratom actions.

Make sure you’re signed up for advocacy updates from kratom organizations.

Share action alerts and educational resources with friends, family, and social media communities.

Kratom policy is being shaped right now, and what happens in one state often influences what happens in others. Your voice—your emails, calls, and attendance—really does make a difference.

New Mexico Update: Share Your Experience

The New Mexico Department of Justice has issued a public statement expressing concerns about kratom and is inviting New Mexicans to share their experiences:

Share your story- https://bit.ly/4ibgnXq

If you live in New Mexico—or know someone who does—please take a moment to submit a thoughtful, respectful comment describing how kratom has impacted your life. Personal stories make a real difference.

🎃 Happy Halloween Week, Kratom Advocates!

While most people are decorating with ghosts and skeletons, we’re fighting something truly frightening — state agencies and local officials attacking kratom.

Last Friday, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) released another outrageous attack, claiming kratom is illegal in California and announcing their intent to seize safe, natural kratom products.

This reckless and unjustified move ignores both science and the legislative process.

👉 We need your Help in California ASAP

Please visit ProtectKratom.org/California to contact California lawmakers and urge them to rein in the CDPH. Share your story and tell them to follow the FDA’s lead and focus enforcement on synthetics and adulterated products — not natural kratom.

🧙 Massachusetts Advocates — Your State Needs You!

Local attacks are spreading quickly across Massachusetts, and we need strong advocates ready to defend safe access in every community.

Join a special Massachusetts Local Action Webinar to learn how you can make an immediate impact:

We’ll cover what’s happening at the local level, how to contact officials before bans advance, and how you can help protect kratom across the state.

🧛 Michigan Hearing — Thursday, October 30th

If you’re in or near Michigan, this is your chance to stand up for kratom in person.

The House Regulatory Reform Committee will hold a hearing on the Michigan Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA) — crucial legislation that would establish responsible regulations for safe kratom products while keeping them legal.

📍 Location: Anderson House Office Building
124 N Capitol Ave, Lansing, MI 48933
🕘 Time: 9:00 AM
📅 Date: Thursday, October 30, 2025

Learn more and make your voice heard at:
🔗 ProtectKratom.org/Michigan

Your attendance and testimony could make all the difference in ensuring Michigan protects access to safe, regulated kratom rather than opening the door to bans.

👻 Don’t Let Fear Win.

This Halloween week, the real monsters are misinformation, overreach, and inaction. Whether you live in California, Massachusetts, Michigan, or beyond — your voice matters.

Let’s keep kratom safe, legal, and accessible for the millions who depend on it.

Advocates Needed! 🆘

From the AKA

We’re facing two urgent battles this week — one in Connecticut and one in California — and the outcomes could shape kratom policy across the country. Also, missed Sunday's webinar? Check the link below to watch, and if you're in Irvine CA be sure to attend hearing (details below.)

⚖️ Connecticut Hearing — TOMORROW, October 15 at 9:30 AM ET

The American Kratom Association petitioned the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) for a public hearing after the agency moved to schedule kratom as a controlled substance.

✅ To help in Connecticut, you must act now:

Sign up to speak or submit comments opposing the ban.

CT DCP Kratom Update Page
Even a short personal statement about how kratom has helped you or a loved one makes a difference. This hearing determines whether kratom will remain legal in Connecticut.

⚠️ California Department of Public Health Overreach

In California, the Department of Public Health (CDPH) has declared kratom illegal and begun seizing products — all without any legislative vote or authority. This is an abuse of power and has already triggered a wave of local ban efforts, starting in cities like Irvine. The CDPH’s unilateral action threatens access for consumers and livelihoods for small businesses statewide.

👉 What you can do:

Visit ProtectKratom.org/california

Tell your lawmakers to rein in CDPH and ensure kratom policy is made through proper legislative channels. Share your story and support reasonable regulation, not reckless bans.

💪 How You Can Help, No Matter Where You Live

Even if you’re not in Connecticut or California, your voice still matters:

Share both links on social media and in online kratom communities.

Donate to help the AKA continue fighting overreach and misinformation nationwide.

Every state watching these two battles will take cues from what happens next — let’s show that the kratom community stands united for science, safety, and freedom of choice.

Thank you for staying engaged and taking action today.

This week will be one of the busiest weeks we’ve seen in our fight to protect safe consumer access to kratm. We've just seen notices of a barrage of meetings across the country, local councils, committees, and state boards are holding hearings on proposed bans — and we urgently need advocates like you to speak out..

Here’s exactly where we have kratm related bans or discussions coming up next week. Full list of agenda items and links at the bottom of the email:

City of Lake St. Louis, MO, Board of Alderman .Oct 6, 6:00PM

Laguna Niguel, California City Council Oct 6, 7PM

Billerica, MA, Board of Health Oct 6, 7:00PM

Diamondhead, MS, City CouncilOct 7, 6:00PM

Marlborough, MA Board of Health Oct 7, 6:30PM

City of Rockhill, MO, Board of Alderman Agenda, Oct 7, 7:00PMI

Fountain Valley, CA City Council Oct 7, 6:00PM

Village of Lincolnwood, IL Committee of the Whole Oct 9, 6:00PM

Amherst, MA Board of Health Oct 9, 5:00PM

Each of these meetings represents a serious threat to kratm consumers. Opponents are showing up and telling only one side of the story. If we don’t counter with facts, these bans could spread.

What you can do:
✅ Sign up to testify or attend a meeting in person if you’re local
✅ Submit written comments where available
✅ Share this alert with friends and family in affected areas
✅ Donate to the American Kratm Association to help us fight bans across the country

Connecticut Residents! 🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘

15 signatures required, for residents only!

Connecticut has a complicated process for Scheduling (banning) substances and Kratom has been moving directly towards it in 2025 without public input.

However we now have a window to push for a public hearing and to submit comments!

Background & Current Status:

Early in 2025 the Connecticut Legislature passed legislation for the Department of Consumer Protection to add kratom to the Controlled Substances list.

Now the Department of Consumer Protection has to accept comments until October 20th, 2025. Also, we are going to Petition to have a Public Hearing. We need to gather 15 Connecticut resident signatures ASAP.

Sign to help petition at Protectkratom.org/Connecticut and use the form on Connecticut’s site to submit testimony against kratom scheduling- https://eregulations.ct.gov/eRegsPortal/Search/RMRView/PR2025-018
