Oak Pointe was visited by the lovely Sanderson Sisters from the Disney Movie "Hocus Pocus." Thankfully, no spells have been cast.....at least not yet....

Sadie Allen is a short-term resident that admitted this week for rehab. She is in therapy with Lauren Clink. Her goal is to return home.

Martha Simmons is a long-term care resident that was admitted in 2024. She is doing therapy with Thomas Leazier, PTA. Martha said, "My most favorite part of rehabilitation is walking."

We are pleased to introduce our new Medical Director, Dr. Christopher Baltes. He is originally from Fort Wayne, and is a third-generation physician. Dr. Baltes graduated from Saba University School of Medicine, and has been practicing medicine since 2014. He is board certified in family medicine, and brings a wealth of experience in patient-centered care and clinical leadership. Dr. Baltes enjoys cooking, playing with his sons, and photography.

We are excited to work with Dr. Baltes, and look forward to collaborating with him to maintain the highest standards of quality and compassion for our residents. Welcome to Oak Pointe, Dr. Baltes!

October is National Physical Therapy Month!

Thomas Leazier is a Physical Therapy Assistant at Miller's at Oak Pointe. Thomas has been a therapist for 15 years. His favorite part of being a therapist is helping patients regain their independence. Thomas enjoys spending time with his friends and family in Michigan. He also enjoys camping, riding snowmobiles, & ATVs.

October is National Physical Therapy Month.

Lauren Clink is a Physical Therapist here at Miller's at Oak Pointe. Lauren has been a therapist for 20 years. Her favorite part of being a therapist is helping patients physically improve so their whole life becomes good and restored. In her free time she enjoys cooking and gardening.

Just to have a little fun this month we celebrated National Smarties Day. Staff were given the week to guess the number of Smarties in the pumpkin. Makalee Vawter had the winning guess with 72! Congratulations, Makalee!

We had a raffle for staff and families for the Walk to End Alzheimer's walk and Tracy Kertai was one of the winners of a fall-filled basket of goodies.

Thank you to everyone who donated or who bought raffle tickets. Team Miller's at Oak Pointe raised $600 for the walk. We are truly blessed to have all of you donate!

Last Saturday some of our staff participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer's walk in Fort Wayne. This is an event near and dear to our hearts as we care for those who are living with Alzheimer's everyday. We have experienced this with not only our residents, but with friends and families in our lives.

This year we were able to help by raising $600 to help in ending Alzheimer's. Big thank you to our team for sharing their Saturday morning for a great cause.

This week is National Healthcare Foodservice Workers Week. Today we are recognizing Jory Davis, Dietary Manager, and Karianna Oppy, Dietary Aide. We would like to thank them for all that they do to keep the dietary running smooth and whipping up fantastic meals our residents to enjoy. We are blessed to have them on our team.

We are conintuing to celebrate National Healthcare Foodservice Workers Week. Meet Nigel Brown, our Assistant Dietary Manager at Miller's at Oak Pointe.

Nigel has been with Miller's for two months. His favorite meal to cook is smothered chicken and dressing. His favorite meal to make for the residents is oatmeal and turkey Manhattan. He got into cooking because his Mom worked three jobs. Best thing about working for Miller's is they are like family. A fun fact about Nigel is that he has been playing drums since he was six years old.
