At Southern Tennessee Regional Health System – Pulaski, our surgical team plays an important role in providing care for patients who need colorectal procedures. Their skill, teamwork, and dedication help ensure patients receive safe, high-quality care close to home.

Regular screenings can help detect colorectal cancer early—when it’s most treatable—and in some cases prevent it altogether. If you’re 45 or older, talk with your healthcare provider about when you should begin screening.

This beautiful woman just made my day!

She saw that I added a surgery case- and she told me that she knew I was going to make him better. And that he had a bad problem, and she was glad I was going to fix it.

She was also teaching another CRNA and told me- I am going to let him fly. And you tell me if you need anything, and we can both be his safeguards. Love this!

This is what it means when we elevate each other.

General surgery rounds always start with one question- Are you farting yet?
After surgery, your guts slow down from medications and inflammation. It’s like a bowl of spaghetti after you cook the noodles- they can fuse together and not move as effectively. And that will keep you from eating, and that keeps you in the hospital.

As general surgeons, we take care of critically ill patients. And for them, it can feel like getting hit by a wave. And just when you get up, you get hit with another. Unfortunately, that’s what critical illness does to you. Makes you feel ok- then knocked over again.

📣 Great news! Our Pulaski office is growing!

To meet the needs of our high-volume surgical practice and continue providing timely, high-quality surgical care to our community, we’re excited to welcome Andrea DeWinter, FNP-C to our Columbia Surgical Partners–Pulaski team.

Andrea will work closely alongside Dr. Courtney Barrows McKeown to help ensure our patients in Giles County and surrounding areas receive timely access to expert, compassionate surgical care that Columbia Surgical Partners is known for. She is known for her outstanding clinical skills, judgement, and exceptional bedside manner. She has a genuine gift for making patients feel heard, supported, and confident in their care. Andrea has already fit in perfectly with our team, and we are very lucky to have her!

We are grateful to continue growing in a way that supports our local community, so you can access exceptional, expert surgical care without a long drive or unnecessary delays. Due to the upcoming winter storm, our office will be CLOSED this coming Monday, January 26th to ensure the safety of our patients and staff.

This is great news for our Pulaski and Lawrenceburg patients who carry Cigna insurance - starting February 15, 2026, STRHS Pulaski and Lawrenceburg will return to in-network for Cigna. Thank you to Southern Tennessee Regional Health System - Pulaski and Southern Tennessee Regional Health System Lawrenceburg for the update and your support!

Following months of negotiations, we are pleased to share Southern Tennessee Regional Health System has reached a new three-year agreement with Cigna Healthcare.

With this agreement, our hospital, medical group and employed providers will again be in network with Cigna commercial plans effective February 15, 2026. Until that time, we remain out of network.

At Southern Tennessee Regional Health System, we believe that our patients and community members deserve access to high quality care close to home, and we are glad this new agreement allows us to continue providing services for Cigna’s beneficiaries and advancing our mission of making communities healthier.
