BURNS!
As we start to prepare for Thanksgiving this week, let's talk about how to treat a burn.
Learning how to take proper care of a burn is very important prior to getting to see Dr. Marlon or Paris!
Dr. Kate Cronan mentions what to do prior to seeing your Pediatrician in KidsHealth.
1⃣Remove clothing from the burned areas, except clothing stuck to the skin.
2⃣Run cool (not cold) water over the burned area or hold a clean, cool compress on the burn for 3–5 minutes (DO NOT use ice, which can cause more damage to the injured skin).
3⃣Lightly apply a gauze bandage or a clean, soft cloth or towel.
4⃣Do NOT put any ointments, butter, or other treatments on the burn — these can make it worse.
5⃣Do NOT break any blisters that have formed.
Once you have assessed the burn and cared for it, call the office ASAP if the burn needs additional care and we will guide you with the additional care.
