Jordan lives with a rare condition called rapid-onset dystonia-parkinsonism, which requires lifelong IV infusion therapy. After facing repeated infections and running out of safe access options, she now makes the six-hour trip from her small Georgia mountain town to the Dialysis Access Institute at MUSC Health for a better long-term plan.

Our team, including Physician Assistant Moriah Lieberman and Dr. Adam Tanious, created a new AV fistula in her left leg. She’s healing well and showing strong early progress.

We’re proud of the skill, coordination and compassion that make complex cases like Jordan’s possible.

Patient care technician Whitney Walker was honored with a BEE Award for showing what true compassion looks like. Whitney cares for a long-term patient who had a close friend also hospitalized at MUSC Health. When that friend began struggling to find the motivation to walk, Whitney stepped in with a simple but powerful idea.

She helped her patient visit their friend in person, creating a moment that lifted both of their spirits. The two ended up starting a friendly walking challenge and encouraging each other in a way only close friends can. Whitney made all of this happen during the busiest part of her shift, putting her patients’ emotional well-being first.

Big news for West Ashley! We’re celebrating the completion of phase III at the MUSC Health West Ashley Medical Pavilion, bringing expanded heart and vascular, musculoskeletal and digestive health services closer to home.

The newest phase includes three operating rooms, an endoscopy suite and the first catheterization and electrophysiology labs in a freestanding MUSC Health ambulatory surgery facility. It also supports outpatient joint replacement, spine procedures and interventional pain care.

This investment helps more patients get high-quality care in a convenient outpatient setting.
