Fueled by determination, she bravely became a beacon of hope as a Midwife, confronting the harsh realities Black women face every day, amidst a Black Mortality Crisis that tragically claims more lives in America than in underdeveloped countries. She was destined to hold her firstborn in her loving arms, but the crisis claimed her instead.

Black doulas represent a small subset of doulas in the U.S. Currently, 60.3% of doulas are White and 9.4% are Black (Doula Demographics and Statistics in the US, 2024).
