"He came to me at 73 and said: 'Doc, I don't want to die without feeling that again.'"
🌅 Harold walked into my office with a cane and a quiet voice.
"I'm 73. My wife passed five years ago. I thought that part of my life was over. But I met someone. She's wonderful. And I want to be with her. But my body... it's been so long. I don't know if it still works."
He wasn't sure it was possible. He wasn't sure it was appropriate to even ask.
I told him what I tell every man: Desire doesn't expire.
We checked his health: heart okay, blood pressure managed, prostate history stable. Then we talked about what was possible:
Medications if needed
Devices if medications weren't enough
Mostly: patience, communication, and re-learning intimacy at a different pace
Six months later, Harold sent me a photo. Not of himself — of two sets of feet under a blanket on a porch, overlooking a lake.
The caption: "Thank you, Doc. She's worth it. And so was I."
If you're older and thought you were done,
