Veterans have powerful stories of service and resilience, but it is not always easy to navigate complex systems after returning to civilian life.
Centers for Independent Living support veterans and other people with disabilities through individualized advocacy that centers the person, not the paperwork. That means listening first, then helping remove barriers that can stand between someone and daily independence.
Support can include help navigating benefits and systems, connecting to community resources, problem solving around transportation or access needs, building independent living skills, and creating a plan that fits a person’s goals for work, health, and community life.
This approach matters because there is no one-size-fits-all veteran experience. Person-centered advocacy helps veterans build confidence, make informed choices, and stay in control of their next chapter.
In MidMO, that work happens through Services for Independent Living. SIL provides independent living services and advocacy grounded in the same CIL model, local, practical, and driven by the goals of the people served.
