👀 Did You Know?
Windy winter conditions can actually make your eyes more irritated — especially if you’re not wearing proper eye protection.

Cold wind causes your tears to evaporate faster, which can leave your eyes feeling:
• Dry
• Gritty
• Watery
• Red or sensitive

And if you already struggle with dry eye, those symptoms can flare up even more this time of year.

When heading outside, protect your eyes with wraparound sunglasses or protective eyewear to help block wind and lock in moisture. A small step can make a big difference in your comfort.

If winter irritation is becoming your “new normal,” it doesn’t have to be. If you’re having issues this season, don’t hesitate to reach out to us — we’re here to help keep your eyes comfortable all year long.

Trivia Answer Reveal! 👀 The correct answer is B. The Optic Nerve!

The optic nerve is the pathway that carries visual information from your eye to your brain. After light hits the retina (the light-sensitive layer at the back of your eye), the retina converts that light into electrical signals. Those signals travel through the optic nerve straight to the brain, where they’re interpreted as the images you see.

Without the optic nerve, your eyes could capture light—but your brain wouldn’t know what it’s looking at.

Going to a new eye doctor can feel a little overwhelming — but it doesn’t have to be.
Lawrence shared how our team took the time to explain every step of the exam, what each machine does, and helped him and his wife find glasses they love. That’s the experience we work to give every patient, every visit.

Whether it’s your first appointment or you’ve been with us for years, we’re here to make sure you feel comfortable, informed, and taken care of. 💙

Watching the Winter Olympics? Your eyes are working just as hard.
From downhill skiing to fast-paced hockey, your eyes are constantly tracking speed and movement. A few fun facts to keep in mind:

• Fast sports require quick eye tracking
• Depth perception helps judge distance and timing
• Intense focus means less blinking, which can lead to dry eyes
• Winter air plus extra screen time can increase eye strain
• Late-night viewing adds more blue light exposure

Pro tip: Use the 20-20-20 rule to give your eyes a break. (Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away, for 20 seconds.)

If your eyes are feeling tired this winter, don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to help keep your vision in top shape.

Here's what you should be doing to help prevent dry eye from happening and how you can find relief.

💧 Use a humidifier at home or work to add moisture back into the air
👀 Take regular screen breaks and remember to blink fully
🕶️ Protect your eyes from cold wind when outdoors
💦 Stay hydrated, your eyes need moisture from the inside out

If dry, irritated eyes are still bothering you, professional dry eye treatments can help target the root cause and provide long-lasting relief. Ask us about IPL therapy or TearCare® treatments.

Don’t let winter dry eye slow you down. Reach out our team to learn more about our dry eye treatments and start feeling comfortable again.

Winter storms can be tough on your eyes, especially if you struggle with dry eye❄️
Cold air, strong winds, and low humidity can cause tears to evaporate faster, leading to burning, redness, blurry vision, and irritation.

If you have to be outside during the storm, protect your eyes by:
• Wearing wraparound sunglasses or goggles to block wind and cold air
• Using eye drops before and after being outdoors
• Blinking often to keep your eyes properly lubricated
• Avoiding direct exposure to heaters or car vents blowing toward your face

If dry eye symptoms worsen or become uncomfortable, our team is here to help. We offer advanced dry eye therapy and customized treatment options to keep your eyes comfortable year-round.

If you are having issues this winter, don't hesitate to reach out to us.

❄️ Did You Know? ❄️
Snow reflects up to 80% of UV rays, which means your eyes are actually exposed to more sunlight in winter, not less.

With the snowstorm headed our way, that bright white snow can act like a mirror, bouncing UV rays directly into your eyes. This increased exposure can lead to eye strain, irritation, and even conditions like photokeratitis (often called snow blindness).

Even on cloudy winter days, UV rays still pe*****te through the clouds and reflect off snow-covered surfaces. That’s why protecting your eyes during winter weather is just as important as it is in summer.

🕶️ Winter Eye Safety Tip:
Wear UV-protective sunglasses or goggles when outdoors, especially after snowfall, and limit prolonged exposure when the sun is reflecting off fresh snow.

📞 If you experience any eye trouble, don’t hesitate to give us a call for any eye emergency. We’re here to help keep your vision safe. 👀❄️
