Go Lime Green: Mental Health Matters is back for another powerful season! Since launching in 2021, this initiative has reached nearly 100 schools across South Carolina (and even one in Chicago!) — bringing mental health education, student-led coping strategies, and community awareness to the forefront.

Each game is more than just sports — it’s about spirit weeks, student engagement, powerful messages from Hayden Hurst & Ryan Hilinski, and a commitment to building a culture of support. Schools also take the next step by hosting Ending the Silence presentations for students, families, and staff.

Thank you to Humana & The Hayden Hurst Family Foundation. Together, we’re breaking the stigma and promoting mental health awareness statewide.

A large number of South Carolinians exceed the income limit to be eligible for Medicaid, but also don’t make enough to afford care from the health insurance marketplace, leaving them with no healthcare options in between.

NAMI South Carolina Executive Director Bill Lindsey states that with Medicaid expansion those dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues would be able to have access to treatment. This would improve health outcomes across the state for those who desperately need it.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is real—and you’re not “just being dramatic.”
Shorter days and less sunlight can impact mood, energy, sleep, and motivation.

A few gentle ways to cope this season:
• Get outside during daylight (even 10 minutes helps)
• Stick to a simple routine
• Move your body in ways that feel good
• Stay connected—don’t isolate
• Be kind to yourself (rest is productive too)

And if things feel heavy or overwhelming, help is always available.
📞 Call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline—24/7, free, and confidential.
You’re not alone, even on the darkest days.

Did you catch us on the Daniel Island News last week? 💛

In light of the Don Holt Bridge shutdown, advocates are calling for jump guards and increased visibility of 988, the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. These moments matter—because su***de often occurs during a brief but intense crisis, and having immediate access to support can save a life.

📞 988 connects people to trained crisis counselors 24/7 by call, text, or chat. It’s free, confidential, and available to anyone feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, or unsure where to turn—even if you’re just worried about someone you love.

Seeing the number 988 on a bridge, roadway, or public space can be the pause someone needs to choose help over harm. Awareness saves lives—and spreading the word gives people a reminder that they are not alone.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988. Help is always there. 💙
