When I think about what being a doula means the first word that comes to mind is support. That is what I am there to do, support mothers, fathers, and families during their wonderful journey to welcoming a new life. I am there to help women achieve the birthing experience they desire with education, physical comfort measures, and creating a safe space. I trained with DONA International and am constantly seeking ways to expand my knowledge. A doula is a valuable asset to have no matter how you chose to birth. I support all journeys to birth; be it home birth, hospital medicated or unmedicated, VBAC, and cesareans. As a doula, I am not licensed to prescribe or perform medical tasks, those are for your doctor or midwife. However, I will help you obtain information needed to make choices regarding your birth and create a sacred space for you.
