Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Herbert Dudley Arinder, Sr., 92, of Columbia, who passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026. Interment will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia. Rev. Jason Webb and Rev. Jimmy Bryant will officiate the services.

The Arinder family will receive guests on Wednesday morning from 9:00 am up until the hour of service at 11:00 am at Hathorn Funeral Home.

Herbert was born on February 12, 1933, in the Improve Community. A son of the late Elzey and Sallie Bolin Arinder, he grew up as one of twelve siblings. Herbert answered the call of duty and served our nation faithfully in the United States Navy during the Korean War, where he served with distinction as a Gunner. Upon returning home, he became a pillar of the local workforce, dedicated to his career at Kenny Moore’s gas station for over 30 years and later serving as a member of the maintenance crew for the Marion County Courthouse. A man of deep faith and fellowship, Herbert was a devoted member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and was highly active in fraternal organizations, including Carley Lodge #562, the Hattiesburg Scottish Rite 32nd Degree KCCH, and the Shriners. In his leisure time, he found great joy in the quiet challenge of word search puzzles, but his greatest happiness came from the time he spent with his beloved siblings.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Elzey Arinder; his Mother, Sallie Bolin Arinder; first Wife, Johnnie Mae Bullock Arinder; his second Wife, Frances Harrell Arinder; five Sisters, Barbara Randall, Lottie Kendrick, Jeanette Reagan, Thelma Hutson, Elsie Mae Arinder; six Brothers, Cleo Arinders, Charles Arinder, Aubra Arinder, Lanny Arinder, Howard Arinder, Verlon Arinder; and one Step-Son, Dale Mullins.

He is survived by one Son, Herbert Arinder, Jr.; two Daughters, Pauline Carson (Kenny), Christie Pounds (Stacey); two Step-Sons, Shelby Morgan, David Turnage; two Step-Daughters, Patsy Barber, Judy Malek; five Grandchildren, Kim Miller, Dustin Arinder (Mandy), Whitney Cox, P.J. Polk, Tori Polk Austin; and nine Great Grandchildren.

Mr. Arinder will be carried to his final place of rest by those honored to serve as Pallbearers; they include Dustin Arinder, P.J. Polk, Matt McCain, Brandon Prine, David McCain, and Cass Barnes. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brantley Stringer, Cooper Lane Cox, Hendrix Austin, and Abel Polk.

In lieu of flowers of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the General Fund of Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1940 Old Hwy 35 N, Columbia, MS 39429, or to the Benevolent Fund of Bunker Hill Baptist Church, 63 Bunker Hill Rd, Columbia, MS 39429. The family wishes to express special thanks to Hazel McGowen and Beverly Gholar for the five years of dedicated care they offered Herbert.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Julia Levicie Pittman, 90, of Columbia, who passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Marion General Hospital. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia. Rev. Tommy Stogner will officiate the services. Janeice Baughman, Len Cooke, and Gilbert Jacobs will provide special music. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Hathorn Funeral Home.

Julia was a long-time faithful member of North Columbia Baptist Church, where she served in many different ways. She loved her church family and was always willing to help in any way she was needed. She worked for Rutter-Rex as a seamstress and eventually became a supervisor. She also worked for the Government as an inspector for Pioneer (Aerospace) for many years. She loved being outside and working in her yard. She was an excellent cook and loved cooking for her loved ones. Julia always said God never gave her a child of her own but blessed her with choosing a very special daughter, Debra, and granddaughter, Kayla. She was also blessed with many nieces and nephews who she considered to be hers. She was always happy to babysit and help others with their children, all who were so special to her. But there are three very special girls she considered hers, Ashlee, Bailey, and Taylor; her Nicholson girls.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Lewis Elwood Pittman; Father, James Taylor Holmes; Mother, Nettie Johnson Holmes; two Brothers, James Carey Holmes and Willie T. Holmes; three Sisters, Marie Nettles, Irene Holmes and Ellen Graves.

She is survived by her Daughter, Debra Culliver (Andy); Grandchild, Kayla Raynes (Josh); two Great Grandchildren, Maycee Raynes and Avery Raynes; A host of nephews, nieces, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Josh Raynes, Trent Nicholson, Mike Bass, Michael Bass, Michael Russell, Todd Pittman, and Duane Hibley. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of North Columbia Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her honor to North Columbia Baptist Church.

Ernestine May stands as a pillar of the Columbia community, embodying a deep-seated commitment to preserving both the history and the future of South Mississippi. As a descendant of the area's early settlers, she channeled her heritage into active service through prestigious organizations, including the Mississippi’s Magnolia chapter of the Colonial Dames and the Catherine Ard chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she dedicated many years as treasurer. Her meticulous nature also benefited the Marion County Historical Society, where she similarly managed the treasury to ensure local history remained well-documented and accessible.
Beyond her civic affiliations, Ernestine’s legacy is woven into the lives of countless students through her lengthy teaching career at Jefferson Middle School, Hub, and East Marion. This passion for mentorship extended into her spiritual life as a long-term Sunday School teacher. Her vision for a more informed community was perhaps most visible in her role on the Board of Trustees for the new Library during its construction, ensuring that Columbia would have a modern space for learning and connection for generations to come.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Joe Box May; two Sons, David May and Philip May; Father, Ernest Russ Ford; Mother, Wennie Seal Ford; Step-Mother, Quennie Ford; Brother, Russ Ford; two Sisters, Billie Frances Ford and Patsy Wicks; Brother-In-Law, Himbert Sinopoli; Daughter-In-Law, Sherry May.

She is survived by her two Sons, George May (Patsy); Tom May; Sister, Pauline Sinopoli; five Grandchildren, Scott May (Amy), Eric May, Andrew May (Tanessa), Katie Patterson (Mike) and Tommy May (Tasha); six Great Grandchildren, Trace May, Taylor May, Jaelynn Peak, Gabrielle Thompson, Harrison May, Tucker Williamson; Daughter-In-Law, Pam May; Sister in law, Barbara Ford; A host of Nephews, Nieces, and friends.

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Susie (Elizabeth Sue) McDaniel, who passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, January 19, 2026, at Forrest General Hospital.
Susie was born on May 14, 1948, in Columbia, Mississippi, to Fred Henry McDaniel, Jr. and Mary Katherine Diderrich McDaniel. She was baptized as an infant at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, later graduated from Columbia High School in 1966, and attended the University of Southern Mississippi.
On October 8, 1966, she married Jerrell McDaniel, and together they raised six children. A dedicated professional, Susie was a Real Estate Broker for over 40 years and was the owner of Susie McDaniel Real Estate in Columbia. She found great fulfillment in helping her clients with their real estate investments.
Susie’s greatest love and joy were her children and grandchildren. She took immense pride in supporting them in all their activities and especially enjoyed attending their sporting events throughout the years. She was also a person that loved animals, especially her beloved pets that held a very special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. McDaniel, Jr and by the father of her children, Jerrell McDaniel. Susie is survived by one daughter, Suzanne McDaniel, Madison, MS ; five sons, Scotty (April) McDaniel, Oak Grove, MS, Mark McDaniel, Jered (Hope) McDaniel, John Dale McDaniel, and Lee "Scoot" McDaniel, all of Columbia, a sister, MaryJo McDaniel Blevins (Dr. Phillip) Naples, FL and a brother, Tommy McDaniel (Connie), Baton Rouge, LA She is also survived by six grandchildren; Catherine McDaniel, Mac McDaniel, Lauren McDaniel, Gracie Reagan (Jay), Eli McDaniel, and Zac Dalati; nephews; Mick McDaniel (Enjoli), Buck McDaniel, Michael Blevins, Steven Blevins (Ellen), Phillip Blevins, nieces; AliceAnn Sebring (Russell), Kathey Dixon (Drew), Elizabeth Crenshaw (Cole), Caroline Blevins and Leah Blevins, as well as several great nephews, great nieces and many wonderful friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2026 in the chapel at Hathorn Funeral home officiated by Father Tommy Conway. Visitation will precede the service from 12:00 noon until 1:45 pm. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be Mac McDaniel, Eli McDaniel, Zac Dalati (grandsons), Michael Blevins, Christopher Blevins and Ryan Breakfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Marion County Humane Society.

Sue Lanell Baughman

Sue Lanell Baughman passed away on January 19, 2026 at Forest General Hospital surrounded by her family.

Sue Nell was born August 1, 1941 to El and Ethel Watts. She is proceeded in death by her mother and father, her siblings, and her husband of 57 years, Henry Baughman.

She is survived by her children, Reggie Baughman, Randy Baughman (Mary Ann), Lynn Baughman (Darrell Martin), and Ancel Baughman (Alice), her nine grandchildren and spouses, seventeen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sue Nell was known for her exceptional cooking and baking skills. She always made Christmas special by baking everyone’s favorite dessert. Throughout their marriage, she and her husband truck farmed a garden and raised cane to make sugar cane syrup. From the garden, she would make homemade jelly, canned vegetables, and her famous sweet pickles. She was a faithful member of Victory Tabernacle Baptist Church for over 40 years, where she also served as a Sunday School teacher. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She always made it known how much she loved her family.

Visitation will be held at Hathorn Funeral Home Tuesday, January 20, 2026 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. The funeral will be officiated by Bro. Everette Broom on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm. Grave side to follow at the new Enon Baptist Church cemetery in the Enon community.

Pallbearers will be Wilson Simmons, Nick Simmons, Jacob Baughman, Bradley Broom, Bradly Simmons, and Zach Frost. Honorary pallbearers will be Braylen Simmons, Hunter Simmons, and Kash Simmons.
