A WSJ investigation found providers of autism therapy extracted Medicaid payments as high as $800 an hour for routine therapy that a high-school grad could administer.
The global baby feeding product market is about $5 billion today and is projected to reach about $7.5 billion by 2032. οΏΌBaby feeding accessories alone (cups, utensils, feeding sets, etc.) were worth about $2.6 billion in 2025 and are expected to grow to about $4.6 billion by 2035.
This multi-billion dollar market is largely driven by constant product innovation and marketingβnew bottles, cups, utensils, and feeding gadgets are introduced every year, often positioning themselves as βmust-have solutions.β While innovation can be helpful, the sheer volume of options can also leave many parents feeling overwhelmed and unsure about what their baby actually needs.

A message from
Sarah Koehling, MS CCC-SLP
Owner, CEO and SLP
This is a long read, but these things have been heavy on my heart.
Almost 17 years ago, I founded this clinic out of nothing but passion.
I never set out to be a business owner. I set out to help children.
I wanted to sit on the floor, play, problem solve, and walk alongside families navigating developmental challenges. I wanted to celebrate first words, stronger steps, safer feeding, calmer nervous systems, and the tiny breakthroughs that change entire family dynamics.
Business ownership happened out of necessity β not ambition. There was a need in Jenks- so I filled it.
Thr last six years have stretched private practices everywhere- especially ours as I dealt with health issues.
We closed our doors during COVID with no warning and figured out virtual therapy overnight. We navigated staffing shortages that are happening nationwide. Weβve supported clinicians through burnout in a field that is emotionally, physically, and cognitively demanding. Weβve rebuilt, restructured, and recommitted β again and again.
But the hardest battle we fight is one most families never see.
Insurance.
Reimbursements continue to decrease.
Administrative demands continue to increase. (Ask Jessy how many prior authβs she did last year)
Authorizations become more complex.
Documentation requirements grow heavier.
Phone calls go unanswered.
Emails go in circles.
Insurance Premiums go up⦠yet the value placed on pediatric therapy continues to go down.
When we choose to go in-network with an insurance company, we accept a discounted rate to make services more accessible for families. In doing so, we also sign contracts agreeing to follow their policies and procedures.
Those policies are not ours.
The insurance plan belongs to the family.
We have been battling an ongoing issue with a federal payer for over a year β something impacting providers across the country.
I have personally spent evenings, weekends, and even time during my familyβs vacation trying to fix problems created by systems we do not control.
It is incredibly easy to blame the provider when something goes wrong with insurance.
But I ask you gently β please pause before doing that.
Give us the benefit of the doubt that we have likely already spent hours advocating behind the scenes before ever bringing a concern to families.
One thing that will never change here is this:
We will never sacrifice our ethics.
We will never cut corners.
We will never engage in fraudulent behavior to make a dollar.
And we will never willingly put a child at risk for loss of care unless we are absolutely forced into a position where the financial viability of the clinic leaves no other option.
We will exhaust every possible effort first.
Continuity of care matters too much.
We are a small business. Word of mouth matters. Online comments matter. Reputations can be damaged quickly β sometimes based on incomplete or inaccurate information given by an insurance representative who does not know our contract, our efforts, or our integrity.
People are often quick to share when something feels unfair.
They are less quick to share the years of good.
If our clinic has impacted your child, your family, or our community in a positive way, I hope youβll remember that before assuming the worst. Please consider a 5 star review.
We are here because we care. We are still here because we fight.
And we will continue advocating β even when itβs exhausting.
Just some honest thoughts from a tired, yet still very committed, clinic owner.

A lot happening behind the scenes lately.
Planning, dreaming, building.
The future version of this is going to be pretty special.

When I first began my career as an SLP, I had no idea what direction it would take me in nor could I fathom the opportunities that would come my way. From New York, to Georgia, to Maryland, I have had experiences in schools, hospitals, and private clinics, each giving me a new tid-bit of knowledge and guidance to help me develop KGK Speech Services, today. Knowing the power that children had on my heart and mind, I chose to pursue my everyday βworkβ in pediatrics, and will never look back. Specifically, I have acquired a love and understanding for communication with children ages birth to three, whose teeny tiny hands and souls are just learning to navigate and explore this giant new world theyβve been given. Subsequently, I have grown to equally love these childrenβs families, as they play an integral role in their growth, development, and success.
Currently, I work in early intervention services for Prince Georgeβs County. In addition, I am looking forward to serving local families, including military families, as I have a strong passion for the military community. As a military spouse, I pride myself in understanding the dynamics and effects of a transient lifestyle, compounded by the full time job of being a mother. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, son, and two furry babies. I love going to the gym, baking, browsing Pinterest, and reading blogs.
Every single day I am afforded the opportunity to guide children and their families to greater success in communicating together, playing together, and enjoying one another. My therapeutic focus employs a parent coaching model, with great emphasis on parent-child interactions, and play based approaches.
Learning to communicate should always be fun and it is my goal to empower family members and their little ones. I look forward to sharing my passion and experience with anyone who chooses to work with me in the future.
