At the Center for Applied Research and Evaluation (CARE), housed at USC's Arnold School of Public Health, we offer our collaborators experience and expertise, and pride ourselves on making the evaluation process a positive one. From the evaluation of small projects to complex mixed method research designs, we have the flexibility and the capability to handle a wide variety of needs. Collaborators are kept up to date at every step along the way, providing critical data as it comes available. Our team approach creates a deep well of talent for our collaborators to draw from. We are dedicated to making a difference, and that dedication makes all the difference for our collaborators.

At the AEA Evaluation Conference, Dr. Lauren Workman presented on CARE’s collaboration with the Bureau of Maternal and Child Health.

Dr. Workman’s presentation covered CARE’s work with SC DPH on the 2025-2026 statewide Needs Assessment for the Title V Maternal and Child Health Block Grant Program, highlighting CARE’s efforts to engage community members in priority setting for the assessment.

Last month, members of the CARE team attended the American Evaluation Association’s Evaluation Conference in Kansas City, where several presented and shared their work.

Holly Pope, CARE Research Associate II, presented her poster titled “Engaging Community Health Workers: An Evaluation Framework for the Community Health Alignment Initiative” at the conference.

CARE is proud to share our team’s contributions to evaluation and community health!

CARE’s Associate Director, Dr. Lauren Workman, recently facilitated a panel discussion with leaders from across South Carolina for graduate students in HSPM 702: Maternal and Child Health Programs and Policies: Past, Present, and Future.

Leaders from , , , and Family Solutions shared their expertise and real-world perspectives, creating an inspiring and impactful learning experience for students.

Earlier this month, CARE team members Lauren Workman and Pam Gillam attended the SC Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) All Sites Assembly in Myrtle Beach.

Lauren leads evaluation work for SC MIECHV in partnership with USC's Rural Health Research Center, while Pam supports the program through continuous quality improvement consultation.
