Does your child have a tongue or lip tie? 🤔 If so, they may be experiencing symptoms such as: ⬇️

⭐️ Consistent clicking noise during feeds, indicating a repeated loss of suction
⭐️ Inefficient, long feeds resulting in exhaustion and frustration
⭐️ Leaking of milk from sides of mouth from a poor latch
⭐️ Air intake due to a disrupted seal leading to reflux/colic symptoms and gas pain
⭐️ Coughing or gagging during feeds from suboptimal coordination patterns
⭐️ Snoring, mouth breathing and/or wakeful sleep patterns due to low resting tongue posture

Everyone has a lingual frenulum—but not everyone has a tongue tie! 👅

Your lingual frenulum is the small band of tissue under your tongue that connects it to the floor of your mouth. We're all born with one!

During development (around week 8 in utero), the tongue separates from the mouth's base, and this connective tissue remnant remains to support and naturally limit tongue movement. But just because you can see a frenulum doesn't mean there's a tongue tie or problem! Having a lingual frenulum is totally normal anatomy—it's part of how our mouths are supposed to be structured.

Not every frenulum causes restriction or requires treatment. The presence of this tissue alone doesn't indicate a tongue tie. Our team can help you determine if further treatment is needed!
