Welvista

Welvista A nonprofit providing free medicine to uninsured adults & dental care to underserved children in SC. Food or Medicine?

As costs of prescription medicines continue to rise and the numbers of uninsured reach all-time highs, providing a cost-effective source for life-sustaining and life-saving prescription medications becomes critical to the low-income uninsured. The number one chronic illness in children is tooth decay, 51 million school hours annually are missed due to dental related pain or infections. Through education, prevention and restorative dental services and access, Welvista makes a difference. Welvista exists to provide prescription medications at no cost to the low-income uninsured. That is the stark choice that more and more low-income uninsured individuals face. No individual should have to choose between food or medicine.

šŸ’™ Stronger Together for Our Patients šŸ’™

For more than 16 years, this partnership has made a real, measurable difference—helping patients access essential medications and improving health outcomes along the way. It’s more than collaboration; it’s a shared mission built on trust, compassion, and a team that truly feels like family. When providers and pharmacy partners work side by side, patients win.

We’re proud to share this story highlighting our incredible community partner, Good Samaritan Clinic.

Through our partnership, we’re able to make a real difference by connecting patients with vital medication assistance—helping ensure they get the care they need when they need it most.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such a compassionate organization and look forward to continuing to serve our community together. šŸ¤

Thousands of Midlands residents are uninsured, but one organization is making sure that doesn’t mean going without care.

🧵 How often should you floss? Daily!

Brushing alone removes some bacteria—like rinsing your hands with water. Flossing is the ā€œsoapā€ that cleans where your toothbrush can’t reach. 🪄✨

If your gums bleed when you floss, don’t panic! Just like muscles, gums need conditioning. With a regular flossing routine, gums get healthier, bleeding stops, and you’re left with a winning smile. 😁🦷

Yesterday our team had the absolute pleasure of spending the afternoon at the Richland Library to connect with Beth Ruffin, their new Chief Engagement Officer, and Lee Patterson, Director of Social Work. Their passion, knowledge, and heart for the community was evident in every conversation.

Our time together was centered around partnership, specifically how we can align our work to better support the community members their social work team serves every day. From housing assistance to securing birth certificates, bus passes, and beyond… their team shows up with compassion, patience, and a true commitment to helping people navigate life’s challenges.

We’re especially excited about the opportunity to coordinate with their team to have a MAP -Medication Assistance Pharmacy advocate onsite during their Free Clinic telehealth days, creating a seamless connection so individuals can access care and receive medications through MAP at no cost. That kind of alignment is what real impact looks like.
The library is not just a place for books, it’s a place for access, creativity, learning, and connection. The library is for everyone!

If you haven’t visited yet, please do yourself a favor and go experience it.

We are so excited about what’s ahead in partnership with this amazing team.

We appreciate the professionalism and efficiency of A & P Electric Service, who recently finished installing our new generator.

We rely on our generator to ensure our refrigerated medications remain at the proper temperature so they can safely reach the patients who need them, even during power outages. Their timely service helps us stay prepared and continue delivering essential care.

šŸ¤ We Can’t Do This Alone šŸ’™ Harriet Armistead, Vice President of MAP, shares an important truth about our mission: it takes a community.

The MAP -Medication Assistance Pharmacy depends on dedicated providers to write prescriptions and committed referral partners to help patients enroll. Together, we create a network of care that ensures individuals can access the medications they need at no cost.

Kahlia and Jessica recently attended the South Carolina Public Health Association Conference, where meaningful conversations, engaging breakout sessions, and inspiring speakers created an impactful experience from start to finish. In true SCPHA fashion, wellness remained a priority. They even took time to make chunky blankets as a reminder to slow down and care for themselves while doing this work.

The SCPHA team continues to create a space that is both welcoming and intentional, ensuring that connection and well-being go hand in hand.

For Kahlia and Jessica, building relationships and increasing awareness of Welvista’s Medication Assistance Pharmacy isn’t just part of the job, it’s a reflection of their commitment to ensuring communities across South Carolina have access to the resources they need.

šŸ’™ A Parent’s Perspective šŸ’™

We’re so grateful to share this testimony from a wonderful parent whose four children attend our Smiles For A Lifetime Center in Allendale.

For families like hers, having a school-based dental program — including transportation for students — makes all the difference. By providing care during the school day and handling transportation, we help remove barriers and take one more burden off busy parents’ shoulders.

When access is easier, smiles are healthier — and families can focus on what matters most. 😁🦷✨
