Another live virtual Primary Training in Hyperbaric Medicine course was successfully completed on November 11. Registrants from 15 time zones included multidisciplinary physicians and surgeons, nurses, therapists, technicians, navy corpsmen, and first responders.

Our widely published thought leaders, subject matter experts and experienced practitioners, along with several operations, safety, and compliance specialists, expertly introduced audience members to the role of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in modern medical practice from a very much 2022 perspective. Authoritative clinical practice guidelines and related publications were reviewed, “negative” studies reconciled, consultation and case management nuances described (including the growing number of implantable devices), and chamber operations/related fire safety guidelines emphasized. As in the past the course was uniformly well received.

Today the Baromedical Nurses Association awarded our NBS President Dick Clarke with the Circle of Excellence Award for his many years of dedicated support for hyperbaric oxygen nurses. Dick was instrumental in helping to develop the certification program for technologists and then laid the framework for the nurses certification program all while providing the administrative headquarters and support for the BNA.
