Last week, the Center for Community Health Alignment hosted our 2025 CHAI and CCOSC Partner Convening, bringing together partners from across the state to discuss the critical work that has been accomplished through Community Health Workers Changing Outcomes in South Carolina (CCOSC) and continues to be carried out through the Community Health Alignment Initiative (CHAI).

Held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the South Carolina Department of Archives and History in Columbia, the full-day convening included a presentation of evaluation findings, facilitated discussions on community resources and networking, sustainability action planning at the team, regional, and statewide levels, and opportunities for reflection and self-care. CHWs from the across the Palmetto State collaborated to strengthen alignment, share lessons learned, and advance sustainable, community-centered approaches to improving health across South Carolina.

We’re grateful for the partnership, insight, and commitment that made this convening a success. Visit our website to learn more about CHAI and CCOSC https://loom.ly/XzvFAgk

On November 5–6, the P.L.A.C.E. (Prioritizing Long-lasting Actionable Community Engagement and Equity) Academy Pilot brought together decision-makers for an engaging 2-day training hosted by the Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity.

The Academy focused on building the capacity of leaders to implement meaningful community engagement strategies, empowering participants to connect, collaborate, and create lasting impact in the communities they serve.

During the event, Moryah Jackson, Executive Director for the Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity, shared remarks and reminded us of the power of collective impact, sharing:

“Community is what’s going to help sustain us through hard times.”

She reflected on how spaces like the P.L.A.C.E. Academy, filled with dedicated leaders, have supported her journey and continue to inspire collaboration across the region.

A huge thank-you to all who participated and helped make this pilot a success!

Vaccines Do Not Cause Autism: Here’s What to Know

Misinformation linking vaccines and autism continues to circulate, but decades of rigorous research show no causal connection. Here's how you can talk about this topic clearly and compassionately:

Key messages to share:

Vaccines are safe and lifesaving. Autism is not one of their outcomes, the evidence does not support a link.

Parents deserve respect and facts. Acknowledge worries, show empathy, then present clear, science-based info.

Use affirming phrasing: “No credible study has shown vaccines cause autism.”

Focus on benefits: Vaccines protect kids from serious, preventable diseases.
