Christina & Evolve Counseling Psychotherapist | Coach | Nature Lover | Movie & Music Buff | and my fave- Autism Mom My approach is tailored, tangible, and focused on helping you thrive.

For 22 years, I've worked with adolescents and families in neurodivergent education spaces, expanding my skills since 2011 to include mental health research and a private practice supporting neurodivergent individuals. As a psychotherapist, I help parents and families understand and support their neurodivergent children, teens, and adult children. I also guide to adults navigate the profound identity shift and self-doubt that comes with suspecting or receiving a late-in-life diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, coupled with anxiety, depression, and mood dysregulation. Individual therapeutic services are available to young adults navigating critical transitions, like college or the workforce. I also specialize in working with career moms and the challenges that present at all stages of motherhood. I blend CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed methods like Somatic Experiencing and EFT. For executive functioning and goal setting, I integrate coaching models and tools like Motivational Interviewing and Strategic Planning. By dedicating this space to your well-being, you can find the clarity to Evolve. You have the power-- let's unlock it together.

Sometimes we forget that little eyes are always watching.

Not just how we speak to them…
But how we speak to ourselves.
How we cope when we’re overwhelmed.
How we respond when things don’t go to plan.

Children don’t learn emotional regulation from being told what to do.
They learn it from what they see, feel, and experience alongside us.

That doesn’t mean we have to be calm all the time.
It means we can be real—and show them what repair, reflection, and trying again looks like.

When we pause, breathe, and come back to connection…
We’re not just getting through the moment.
We’re teaching skills they’ll carry for life.

If you’re trying to support a child with big feelings, you don’t have to do it alone.
My Managing Big Feelings Toolkit is designed to help you guide, not control. Link in comments below ⬇️ or via Linktree Shop in Bio.

This is one of those moments that can feel confusing, frustrating, and even a little rejecting as a parent.

When a child says “I don’t want to go,” it can look like defiance… avoidance… or simply being difficult. But underneath that behaviour is often something much more vulnerable. It’s not about refusing — it’s about not coping.

For many children, especially those who experience anxiety, sensory overwhelm, or emotional dysregulation, everyday expectations can suddenly feel too big. School, social events, transitions, even leaving the house can trigger a stress response in the brain.

And this is where it’s important to understand the fight response.

When a child’s brain perceives something as too much, it shifts into protection mode. Sometimes that looks like shouting, arguing, refusing, or pushing back. Not because they won’t… but because, in that moment, they genuinely feel like they can’t.

When we reframe “I don’t want to go” as “this feels too big for me right now,” it changes how we respond. Instead of pushing harder, we can support, scaffold, and co-regulate.

If this resonates, it’s often a sign to look beneath the behaviour and ask:
What feels overwhelming here?
What support does my child need to feel safe enough to try?

Everyone talks about 'New Year, New You,' but for many neurodivergent folks, sensory overload WILL happen!

As a therapist, I’m seeing the burnout that comes from trying to sprint into the year while still recovering from holiday sensory transitions. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the pressure to 'transform,' remember: you don’t need to overhaul. You need regulation.

When the 'to-do' list feels like a wall, try pivoting to a Low-Demand approach:

Prioritize: Focus only on the essentials (hydration, rest, one 'must-do' task).

Postpone: Give yourself permission to move non-urgent goals to March.

Regulate: Identify one sensory input that helps you feel safe right now.

We’re honoring capacity over expectations this month. Be kind to your brain—it’s doing a lot of work just navigating the transition. 💡"
