Anyone who knows me KNOWS that I love animals. This love for them goes way back to childhood. I had a squirrel at my office the first year I was here that would answer to Rascal, and was taking nuts from my hand.🤎

To make it a quick story, three weeks ago I came home from work, and was letting our dogs out. There was this crying I could hear, and unsure what it was, I started walking around the yard. Baby squirrels had fallen from the tree and landed on the road (that I just drove on)! I couldn’t believe I didn’t run any of them over. After carefully picking them up and placing them at the base of the tree (and giving them lots of pets), I could hear more cries. More squirrels were clinging to branches! Six total fell out of the tree. I gathered them all into a box. We (my pups and I) ended up watching mama squirrel come back for them, and carry them to another nest. She even went to the old nest and pulled out one last baby that had not fallen out!

Well, they are exactly where I thought they were. Their eyes are now open, and they respond to me when I talk to them. Watching one push by the other yesterday to poke its head out to see me was too much!🥹 Today they’re out playing! I am so happy that I get to watch these babies grow!❤️
