Please remember this family in your thoughts and prayers.

Friends, my leadership team and I believe in the power of prayer. Today, especially, I am asking that you join us as we pray for one of our retired Shelby County Sheriff's Office deputies who was involved in a terrible, life-altering motor vehicle accident. To respect his privacy and that of his family, we are limited on the details we can share. However, what we can share is that he and his family need our prayers. Please join us as we pray for all involved and for our retired deputy, who has a long road of recovery ahead of him.

Merry Christmas to you and your families from the members of Southeast Shelby Rescue. Wishing you a day filled with happiness and joy.

Also, as most of us are able to be home with our families, many are not (yes, by choice). To all the first responders (dispatchers, EMS, LE, fire, etc) thank you for serving the citizens. If you happen to bump into any of these people today, please wish them a Merry Christmas.

We are pleased to announce that Southeast Shelby Rescue will begin teaching AHA "Heartsaver" CPR/AED classes in our communities. This project has long been needed to bring invaluable training to the citizens we serve. This year, Southeast Shelby Rescue has responded to nearly 100 cardiac arrests and in every case seconds matter and it is our hope that we can teach you how to make a difference with more confidence. Our plan is to come to each community we serve and offer this class close to home. Our first class will be in Wilsonville on January 24, 2026 at Wilsonville Town Hall from 2-4pm, The only cost to you is if you want a CPR card it will be $30, and we can accept cash or check. Class size is limited to 25, so sign up fast! We are excited for this project and hope to see you all at one of our classes.

With the cold temperatures upon us, please stay warm and keep safe.

Employee Spotlight: Jake Hayes

How many years have you worked in EMS? - 5 years
How long have you worked at SESR? - 4 months
How did you get your start in EMS- I was an explorer at Center Point FD for a couple of years
Why did you choose EMS? - I’ve always wanted to do something that actually matters. I’ve always been drawn to helping people. I enjoy being able to work and stay calm in stressful situations to figure out what is wrong and what I can do to help my patients. The idea of being the person my patients depend on when things go wrong really spoke to me, and it’s something I’m grateful for. It’s not an easy job, but it’s meaningful, and that’s what I was looking for.
Outside of EMS what do you enjoy? - I enjoy riding my motorcycle, going to the beach, being in the outdoors, and spending time with loved ones.
What is your favorite part of SESR? - My favorite part of SESR is the family-oriented environment. My whole shift is really like a second family to me. We cook, eat, clean, and watch movies together. When the time comes to do work, everyone is willing to help out for the best outcomes possible. Our leadership is always there for us and they never shy away from helping us whenever we need it.
What do you think is the most important part of EMS? - Teamwork. When you and your team work together like you should, it runs like a well-oiled machine. This is critical when it comes to stressful calls when you don’t have the time to think everything out. Our team never fails to show up when needed and everyone knows exactly what their role is. Not only do we work to fix what’s going on medically, we show true compassion and communication to our patients to let them know we truly care. We don’t skip a beat!
