PRINCIPLE #4: Let your partner influence you

Does your partner tend to give you the same feedback over and over?

Do you find yourself disagreeing and getting defensive every time?

Do you trust that your partner has your best intentions at heart?

We’ll explore the powerful value of accepting influence from our partners at our upcoming couple’s workshop based on “The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work” by John Gottman.

You’ll walk away with concrete strategies to give and receive honest feedback so you both can be the best versions of yourselves.

PRINCIPLE #3: Turn toward your partner

I’m curious: how does your partner respond when you…

… talk about your day?

… are sad, upset, or stressed out?

… have good news to share?

Don’t underestimate the importance of these responses, which we’ll explore at our upcoming couple’s workshop based on “The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work” by John Gottman.

You’ll walk away with concrete strategies to respond to each other with presence, sincerity, and compassion - the key to successful marriages.

Scheduling s*x sounds depressing, I know.

But research shows that putting it on the calendar makes it more likely to happen, and (assuming your relationship is otherwise healthy and harmonious) it can actually be exciting.

Want to try it?! Here are five helpful tips:

1) Timing - experiment with unconventional times like Monday mornings before work, Thursdays on your lunch break, or Saturdays during the kids’ naptime. PRO TIP: consider when the partner with lower libido tends to be in the mood and plan around that.

2) Circumstances - discuss non-negotiables to minimize last-minute barriers. Phones silenced? Candles lit? Dishes done? PRO TIP: bad smells are a major turn-off... ask your partner’s honest opinion about showering, fresh breath, and deodorants/colognes.

Recently, I got sick of the formal, salesy, impersonal nature of business newsletters. I decided to ditch them and instead share my personal, informal take on life, love, s*x, and motherhood in short, easy-to-read emails so the SPARK community can get to know me on a deeper level.

Many of my clients question whether they chose the right partner.

They fixate on all the negative aspects of their relationship, and fantasize about what it would be like to be with someone else.

But the reality is–there’s no such thing as the perfect person. There will always be things that align and things that don’t. It’s about chosing the combination of things you’re willing to live with long-term.

So before you jump ship, consider talking to a trusted professional and getting their honest feedback because, to quote Joni Mitchell, you don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone.

We finally did it ✨

After years of asking and waiting and hoping and praying that might just maybe consider doing a story about SPARK, we finally let go and trusted that if it was meant to happen, it would happen.

It happened 💕

The editor reached out to me earlier this year asking if they could do an interview of us for their February issue, for Valentine’s Day.

The whole experience was easy and enjoyable. We loved working with their team. And we’re thrilled with the final product 🥹

Grab a copy while they’re still on stands through the rest of this week! You’ll find our article on page 78.

I never ever take opportunities like this for granted. Grateful for every chance we get to talk about what we do 🙏🏽

UPCOMING WEBINARS ✨

DID YOU KNOW: More than 80% of people in relationships have never shared their dirtiest s*xual fantasy with their partner.

Whether you’ve indulged in thinking about your professor naked, getting tied up, or having a th*****me with a coworker, your fantasies aren’t weird—they’re wired. Few couples understand what their erotic imagination is really trying to tell them, and it’s often not what you’d expect.

Spice up your Halloween plans this year with a fun + freaky night exploring the inner workings of your (and your partner’s) s*xual psychology and how to bring those private desires into the bedroom without shame, pressure, or awkwardness.

YOU’LL LEARN:

• The most common fantasies for men & women—and what they really mean

• Why distinguishing between fantasy and reality is so important

• How to share desires without hurting your partner’s feelings

• Ground rules for trying something new between the sheets (or wherever you do it)

*** BONUS: Live Q+A with Meghna from 9–9:30pm ***
