🎁✨ Holiday Helpers in Action! ✨🎁

A huge thank you to First Response Plumbing & Excavation and Bailey & Wood Mortgage Lender for generously donating the postage needed to get our Family Service donor letters in the mail this week!

They showed up like true holiday elves, jumping in without hesitation and putting community first. Because of their support, we are able to reach hundreds of families, partners, and donors who make our mission possible.

We are so grateful for local businesses who care deeply about strengthening families and supporting Bartholomew County. ❤️

Stay Safe and Warm, Columbus! ❄️
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, an arctic air mass will keep our region chilly throughout the weekend. 🌬️ Expect highs in the teens and 20s and nightly lows even colder. 🥶

Warming centers will be open through Monday.

Engagement Center (1075 2nd Street)
Sunday, Monday: 8am - 5pm

Brighter Days (421 S. Mapleton Street)
Saturday: 6pm - 8am Sunday
Sunday: 5pm - 8am Monday

The Bartholomew County Public Library branches in Columbus and Hope will both be open during regular hours as warming centers.

Giving Tuesday is December 2nd — and we need you.

This isn’t just another day on the calendar — it’s a day where kindness becomes action and generosity becomes change.

Every year, Family Service Inc. meets people at some of the hardest moments of their lives — a teen who feels alone, a parent who’s overwhelmed, a child who doesn’t yet understand why life feels too heavy.

I want to share just one story.

A young girl came to us terrified and quiet — the kind of quiet you feel in your chest. Her home wasn’t safe. She didn’t trust adults. She struggled to sleep. She believed the world only hurt.

Thanks to support from people like you, she was able to receive counseling — not once, not twice, but consistently. Every week. Slowly, she looked up. Then she looked around. And eventually — she laughed.

She now tells people,

“I know bad things can happen. But now I know good things do too — because someone cared enough to help me.”
