The Exchange: Where Hopelessness Is Exchanged for Hope

Founded on August 15, 2022, The Exchange is a faith-based, 12-step–oriented accountability housing program providing a safe haven for up to 31 men who are ready to change their lives.

We exist to help men transition from hopelessness to a hope-filled life through faith, structure, and community.

A Safe Place to Start Again

At The Exchange, men find more than a bed—they find stability, accountability, and compassion. Through our Opportunity Beds, we help men who have nothing gain the footing they need to move forward: safe housing, hygiene, time to heal, and support to seek employment.

Faith, Accountability, and Community

Our program is rooted in Christian faith and 12-step principles, supported by a pure-led accountability system. Men grow through structure, fellowship, and responsibility—never alone, always supported.

We believe lasting change happens in healthy community. Through strong fellowship and compassionate leadership, men learn to live with purpose, integrity, and hope.

Opportunity Beds: A Hand Up When Someone Has Nothing

At The Exchange, we believe that real change starts with stability. For someone experiencing homelessness, stability doesn’t begin with a job application or an interview—it begins with a bed.

That belief is the heart behind Opportunity Beds.

What Is an Opportunity Bed?

An Opportunity Bed is more than just a place to sleep. It’s a structured, supportive starting point for a man who has absolutely nothing—no home, no resources, and often no support system.

When someone enters an Opportunity Bed, we help them with:
• Clean, safe bedding
• Hygiene essentials
• Time to rest and acclimate
• Stability to focus on next steps
• Job readiness and employment support

This is not a handout. It’s a hand up.

Why a Bed Changes Everything

Imagine trying to find a job when you haven’t slept safely in weeks. Imagine showing up to an interview without clean clothes, a shower, or peace of mind.

An Opportunity Bed provides the foundation that makes progress possible. With consistent rest, dignity, and support, men can begin to:
• Regain confidence
• Create a daily routine
• Search for employment
• Transition toward independence

We’ve seen it time and time again—when basic needs are met, lives begin to move forward.

The Need Is Growing

Right now, we are seeking funding to keep Opportunity Beds available for men who are ready to change their lives but need a place to start.

To fully support our Opportunity Beds program, we need:

Six donors at $700 per month
—or—
Any combination of monthly gifts that total $4,200

Each $700 monthly donation helps cover housing, utilities, bedding, hygiene supplies, and the support services that help a man get back on his feet.

A very important goal in life is to be able to learn to do it with a honest thankful heart… I’m thankful for the opportunity to be able to have a goal like that in mind…

After being freed from self-bondage, life becomes about living authentically, guided by purpose, connection, and service, often involving spiritual grounding (prayer, scripture), developing new, selfless habits (meditation, giving), pursuing passions aligned with your true self, fostering deep relationships, and contributing positively to the world, rather than being driven by ego, fear, or societal pressure

We currently have 7 beds available for anyone interested in accountability housing relocated in the university District easy access to a lot of 12 step meetings bus stops. It is $700 a month self-pay.

This month, The Exchange is 3 years old. Over the last three years, we went from housing 14 guys to 40. In the midst of that, we were able to open up a community center/meeting hall that is there for anyone that needs it or would like to start a meeting or maybe rent the space. On behalf of The Exchange, we would like to thank and congratulate the men of service who helped get it to this point. We would also like to give a shout out to all the tenants who have been there, doing what they need to do to help keep the wheels rolling and those opportunity beds available for the next guy.

SOBER FUN ALERT !!!!

John Peterson is talking trash - he says he'll challenge anyone to a dance off….

Come celebrate with us!!!

Starting at 5 PM, we'll be grilling out some serious eats - hot dogs, hamburgers, the whole shebang. We'll have a spread of food that'll make your taste buds do the happy dance…. Including desserts…. because, priorities.

Bring a dish and bring a friend…. the more, the merrier!

We'll have indoor seating in the AC at Club House… because, summer.

Work these steps with Joe and Charlie meeting will still be going on in the clubhouse from 7 PM to 8 PM, but after the meeting, we'll be letting off some fireworks…. because, 'Merica!
