Back to school after winter break can feel like the first day of school all over again for students and teachers alike! ❄️ As you send your student back this week, here are 5 tips to help everyone start the new semester with confidence:
✔Revisit Routines & Expectations ⏰ After a few weeks of holiday fun, it helps to restate expectations just like you did in August. Remind your student what to expect, prioritize an early bedtime, and fuel up with a good breakfast to start 2026 strong!
✔Check In with Teachers 🍎 If your child has a new schedule, take a moment to introduce yourself (we have a FREE letter template on our website to make this easy!). Since a lot can happen over break, be sure to share any updates or changes with your child’s teacher to help the transition go smoothly.
✔Prep for IEP/504 Meetings 📅 If your child’s annual meeting hasn’t happened yet this school year, now is the perfect time to check your documentation. Mark your calendar with expected due dates so you feel prepared. Not sure when the meeting is? Just reach out to your child's teacher or case manager and ask!
✔Lead with Grace ❤️ It is completely normal for the return to school to feel emotional or even cause some anxiety after the holidays. Continue to support your student through this transition and recognize that it may take a few days for them to fully adjust.
