In March 1990, dozens of people with disabilities left their wheelchairs and crawled up the 83 stone steps of the U.S. Capitol. This powerful protest, now called the Capitol Crawl, showed the world the urgency of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Just months later, the ADA became law.
