GARDEN GNOME HERE • WILDLIFE'S CULINARY HABITS
You can see the testimonial about our Garden in the photo. Sadly for them, the deer couldn’t eat through the landscape cloth that covered some winter over vegetables. Besides that, we made some changes in planting beds around the Garden, and more of their usual snack and resting places were disturbed.
But not to worry. Our deer population made quick work of finding a NEW snack bar….. the COMPOST PILE!!! They chow down regularly. We’ll have to see if they have better table manners than the opossums. If there’s something prickly, like pineapple tops, the opossums toss them over the side into the woods or on the ground. So much for bussing their tables…..

🌿It's greens time in Columbus!

Adawehi Community greenhouses are in full swing. Stop by for fresh, healthy cooking greens and lettuce for a great price! New harvests are delivered each Monday and Friday. Our greenhouse produce is naturally grown with love and care.

Current harvests include:

Russian Kale
Swiss Chard
Collards
Frisee
Salad Lettuce

GARDEN GNOME HERE • INDOOR PLANTS
We don’t talk much about our indoor gardens on our page. But I’d like to introduce you to one of our Holiday Cactuses. They bloom at Thanksgiving or Christmas, and they also bloom for Halloween, New Year's, Mardi Gras, Easter, and sometimes even Memorial Day. They always bloom together like one big family, although someone usually starts it off.

GARDEN GNOME HERE • GARDEN PREP
First true day in the garden, getting some rows ready for the onion sets coming in a couple weeks.
Surprised to find the winter over Napa coming back. Weeded the garlic, which is quite happily growing. Clean up.
Need to pull back the leaf cover on the asparagus to get the soil warm.
You can direct-seed cool-weather peas, greens, carrots, lettuce, and radishes. And start warm-season vegetables indoors if you can to get a head start once we’re past the frost danger.
