We're talking better patient outcomes and business efficiencies at The OCHCH Spring Financial Conference this March 25 & 26. Join us for for two days of exceptional learning, featuring "How to Improve Patient Outcomes Using Molecular Testing" presented by Thomas Payne and Jerome Nypaver from Patients Choice Laboratories.

Using molecular testing in the home health setting revolutionizes how clinicians diagnose and manage infections. With rapid and precise results within 24 hours, providers can initiate appropriate treatment interventions quicker and more accurately. This in turn helps avoid unnecessary hospitalizations and helps stem the rise of antibiotic resistance with the detection of antimicrobial resistant genes. We will also briefly discuss Pharmacogenetics (PGx) testing and how studies have shown it can increase treatment success, lower healthcare costs and hospitalization, and reduce trial-and-error medications. Join us as we discuss how these outcomes might be possible for your health system and patients.

It's almost here! The OCHCH Spring Financial Conference is March 25 & 26. Join us for for two days of exceptional home health & hospice learning, featuring "Hospice Levels of Care: Navigating Scrutiny, Compliance Risk, and Financial Vulnerability" presented by Katherine Morrison with WellSky.

This session explores the four hospice levels of care and examines how increasing regulatory scrutiny is reshaping the financial landscape for hospice providers. As auditors and payers intensify their focus on clinical documentation, eligibility, and appropriate use of higher-acuity levels of care, organizations face growing exposure to audits, denials, and costly recoupments. Even minor documentation gaps or misuse of higher levels of care can trigger significant financial consequences, including repayment demands, sanctions, and long-term revenue cycle disruption.

Don't miss The OCHCH Spring Financial Conference this March 25 & 26. Accelerate and grow your agency with insights from Cindy Campbell with WellSky, presenting "The Innovative Leader – Differentiating Practice and Outcomes."

Join us to discuss how integrating machine learned data into long-standing theory can yield advocacy across all stakeholders, supporting top outcomes, growth, mission, and culture. Demography fuels the growth of healthcare at home, and its constricting workforce. Added regulatory, payor and public scrutiny consume the time, focus and energy of leadership teams, all while advances in machine learning and its application to healthcare at home are shifting how leaders best manage day to day clinical operations. Across the continuum of care at home, managing through change is made more effective by resting on foundational functional leadership concepts. Innovative clinical models can yield leadership time and sharpened focus, perfect for leaning into functional leadership approach.

Today, Friday, February 20, we recognize National Caregivers Day — a time to honor the millions of individuals who provide essential care and support across our communities.

Established in 2015 to elevate awareness of caregivers’ often under-recognized role, this observance highlights both professional caregivers and the more than 63 million family caregivers nationwide who help sustain our healthcare system. Caregivers make it possible for individuals to remain at home, reducing strain on hospitals and facilities while improving quality of life.

As we celebrate caregivers, we also acknowledge the policy realities they face. Family caregivers often balance employment and caregiving responsibilities with limited support, while professional caregivers in home health, hospice, and home care navigate workforce shortages, reimbursement pressures, and increasing regulatory demands.

At the Ohio Council for Home Care & Hospice, we remain committed to advancing policies that strengthen the caregiver workforce, expand access to resources, and ensure sustainable reimbursement for care in the home.

Today, we thank caregivers for the critical role they play — and we reaffirm our commitment to supporting them not just in words, but through meaningful advocacy. 💙
