COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

Thank you for connecting with ALS United Ohio on Facebook! The purpose of this page is to establish an online community where people with ALS, family members, caregivers and friends can interact amongst themselves and with our organization in a positive environment. We will post relevant information about our services, advocacy, awareness, research and opportunities to engage with us outside of social media. ALS United Ohio strives to be the best resource for those facing ALS in Ohio. We value comments and feedback from everyone and want our presence on Facebook to encourage thoughtful interaction among the ALS community. In order to create the most positive and open environment, we kindly ask that you review our Community Guidelines listed below. Should posts or comments not adhere to our Community Guidelines, we reserve the right to remove them. Please refrain from posting:

1. Solicitation or advertising of products or services. Please refrain from advertising products, services or other such information on our page, particularly if they refer to non–FDA approved treatments or devices.
2. Offers or solicitations for used or unused durable medical equipment (DME) or unused prescription medication due to potential liability or sanitation-related issues. You may contact us at alsohio@alsohio.org regarding offers of these items.
3. External fundraisers not approved or vetted by ALS United Ohio as we cannot verify whether the funds collected will go towards the stated charity or cause.
4. Posts containing profanity or offensive language.
5. Posts requesting support for a petition. Unless the petition has officially been vetted by ALS United Ohio, we cannot endorse third party requests to support a particular cause.
6. Personnel-related issues. If you have concerns regarding staff or volunteers of our organization, please submit information via email to alsohio@alsohio.org
7. Patient Privacy Issues. We serve hundreds of people living with ALS. Information gathered from these people will not be shared on Facebook and is considered a violation of the organization’s confidentiality policy.
8. Comments that are factually inaccurate, misleading or defamatory. Personal attacks and political preferences are also prohibited on this page. We will do our best to respond to and correct factually inaccurate information and dispel misinformation.
9. Requests for page “Likes” not approved by ALS United Ohio.
10. Comments or content that violate ALS United Ohio's or another company’s trademark or intellectual property or legally privileged information.
