Tonight at Creekside at the Village, our residents enjoyed a Lunar New Year–inspired dinner thoughtfully coordinated by our Life Enrichment and Culinary teams.

As a community grounded in Jewish values, we believe deeply in lifelong learning, cultural appreciation, and creating meaningful experiences that bring people together. Exploring global traditions through food, education, and fellowship is one way we continue to keep our community vibrant and engaged.

We are pleased to announce that Selma Dershaw has been promoted to Director of Social Services. Over the past four years, Selma has demonstrated outstanding leadership, strong organizational skills, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of our residents. In her role as Social Services Designee, she has become known for her attention to detail, thorough follow-through, and professionalism, serving as a trusted resource for residents, families, and team members alike.

In this expanded role, Selma will play a key part in further developing and strengthening our discharge planning processes and care transitions within and from WHV. She will provide valuable leadership and oversight to the Social Services department and help enhance interdisciplinary communication across our community—advancing our commitment to high-quality care and strong operational standards.

Did you know: The Story of Wexner Heritage Village. A Community's Response to a Pressing Requirement. Wexner Heritage Village commenced operations in 1951, following prolonged community deliberations regarding the imperative need for a Jewish residential care facility for seniors in Columbus. Prior to its establishment, families requiring Jewish practices for long-term care were compelled to relocate their loved ones to Cincinnati or Cleveland, options that were both costly and frequently impractical. Resolute in their determination to provide localized care, community leaders and volunteers concerted efforts to create a facility that would uphold Jewish traditions while catering to the needs of aging residents. The Jewish principle of honoring one's parents remains fundamental to our mission, unchanged from 1951 to the present day.

There were so many lovely happenings at WHV today, we enjoyed spending time with our members and residents, learning and creating all afternoon. We had some very special moments with art therapist, Timberlee. Beautiful memories full of our favorite flowers!

This past Friday, on February 13/26 Shevat 5786, our congregation at Wexner Heritage Village welcomed Rabbi LeighAnn Kopans to our congregation as one of the Rabbi’s and leaders of our community at WHV. Rabbi Kopans will serve Zusman hospice as the rabbi/chaplain. This significant simchah, in front of the ark, was a sacred and beautiful moment in time for all of us. Thank you to Cindy Leland for helping us lead a very special service for Kabbalat Shabbat and Rabbi Kopan's daughter, Penny Kopans. Thank you to OSU Hillel for volunteering to help make bears this morning for our Zusman Hospice Love & Hugs program. Zusman provides a Love and Hugs bear specially dressed for each client.
