April is National Poetry Month, and we’re proud to celebrate the voices of our learners at Adult Literacy Ohio.

This powerful poem, “Woman Breaking the Bounds,” was written by Amy, one of our adult learners. Her words reflect strength, growth, and the courage to push beyond limits.

At Adult Literacy Ohio, literacy is more than reading and writing, it’s about finding your voice, building confidence, and sharing your story. Amy’s poem is a beautiful reminder of that.

Join us in celebrating her work and the creativity of adult learners across Ohio.

Today we celebrate the power of inclusion, advocacy, and lifelong learning for World Down Syndrome Day.

Looking for practical, research-based strategies to support inclusive literacy instruction?

The Literacy Access for ALL website (also known as Accessing the General Curriculum) is a FREE, 10-part video series designed to help educators and families ensure every learner has meaningful access to grade-level content.

While the general education curriculum includes planned lessons and instruction, this series also explores something equally important — the informal and unspoken strategies used in classrooms that impact:
- Student growth
- Engagement
- Inclusion
- Meaningful participation

Each video shares actionable strategies grounded in research to help remove barriers and create learning environments where ALL learners can thrive.

If you're supporting students with diverse learning needs, this is a valuable (and free!) resource to explore.
