Apparently March 11th is a very busy holiday calendar, and we’re sharing the day with quite a few interesting celebrations:

🥑🥦 Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day – shout out to the folks helping people live healthier lives. Meanwhile… we meet families when life’s journey has come full circle. Two different callings, both centered around caring for people.

👗 National Promposal Day – people asking big questions today. Some are asking, “Will you go to prom with me?” …and some families are asking us, “Can you help us plan a service?” Either way, it’s about honoring meaningful moments in life.

☎️ National 311 Day – a number you call when you need help in your city. Around here, families have another number saved… 614-427-1234 the one they call when they need compassion at 2 AM.

🍎 National Johnny Appleseed Day – he planted seeds that grew into trees for generations. In funeral service, we help families honor the legacy and seeds their loved ones planted in life.

🛠️ National Worship of Tools Day – listen… every funeral director knows our “tools of the trade.” Organization, patience, compassion, Ai… and yes, occasionally a lint roller five minutes before the family arrives.

🧇And finally… Oatmeal Nut Waffles Day.
Which honestly sounds like the only holiday today where someone actually gets to relax and eat. 😄

But today is also ⚰️ NATIONAL FUNERAL DIRECTOR AND MORTICIAN RECOGNITION DAY, and that’s a moment to recognize the men and women across the country who answer a call that most people could never imagine doing.

We organize chaos when grief shows up unannounced. We hold space for families on their hardest days.And we make sure every life is honored with dignity and care.

So to all my colleagues across the country…
